Genuinely think we'll top the table. I'm not getting carried away. I think we've got too much for most teams in this league and once we properly click we'll see more results like this. Also think there will be signings in Jan, if we need them obviously! Cheers for the summary wasn't at match today.
I agree on both. Hopefully with Cole's age he can have the season in league one & then next year look to have a season in the championship. I won't even blame Dudgeon for giving the pen away, the lad he was up against was like lightning. I was shocked they took him off, he was the only threat Gillingham had
I guess you missed all those times Dudgeon and Treacy bombed down the left wing together, or when Cole ran past the defenders with ease. Selective viewing me thinks.
Aye. That's pretty much what I saw Jay. 7 from 12, and we're just getting going, keep that up all season and we're looking at 80pts. But improvement is very possible.
I decided at the last second not to go today (poor decision in hindsight), so listened on player. Sounded in complete control of the game throughout, and without really going for it we managed to hand out a tonking. Great to hear Matt and Adam sounding so cheerful and relaxed in the last 10 minutes for once. They had a lot of praise for Cole, Abbott and Hourihane and think we're on the way to having a great side for this division. I find it odd that threadstopper seems unsatisfied by this. It's our first home win since April, we're top scorers and 5th in the early table, and all this with a side still learning to play together. Come on man, lighten up a bit and enjoy it
Beat me to it. Cole especially was beating his man with such ease. And Dudgeon and Treacy linked up so well, we looked especially good down the left, but did think Brown really came into the game and was very effective himself. We look a top team in my eyes. Really good balance
Gillingham made us look like Barcelona, never really got out of second gear, hopefully every team we face will be as bad although I suspect they won't be.
Don't get me wrong we played well after the first 20 mins or so but I'd be surprised if many other teams turn up at Oakwell as average as Gillingham appeared.
Up to today Gillingham had same number of points as us. We can only beat what is in front of us. I know we've put up with some crap and we aren't going to enjoy every game like today but why is it so ******* difficult for some to give a nod towards credit where it's due ? I remember many teams that were awful that we played last few seasons, many beat us. We put them to the Sword and that's what we need to do. We have lost one game where we played with 10 men. Will we be promoted, no one knows. For now I prefer to take the giddy stance along with Jay et al. However what I'm seeing is a team growing in confidence, playing good football, finishing chances, strikers scoring and us high up the table. In fact there is nothing else to see right now, we can't predict the future but we can be believers or disbelievers or sit on the fence waiting to see. By the way is 1 on 1 beating players the modern game? If so tell Chelsea and many top teams who pass teams to death. Having said that I saw several of our players beat others one on one across the pitch yesterday. But what I saw more of was good passing, possession and some clinical finishing alongside another 3-4 good chances.
I have thought about this post of yours for a while, and I am afraid that this too will be my last response to any post of yours. You call my opinion an argument. What does that mean? If I have an opinion different to yours then a difference of opinion will occur. Not necessarily an argument, but if it is then so what? Are we all supposed to agree on here? All the time? Do you post just so people fawningly agree with you? You then go on about some apparent obsession of mine with the idea that I do not like DW and that i wish him to fail and that I "don't" support Barnsley. You have no right to so pontificate. You do not know me. Nor how long I have held a season ticket. My posts are my own interpretation of what i see and what has been said. They are good to me. And my blind faith is to the club, not the manager. Furthermore, you can trawl through all my previous posts on this board and try, if you like, to provide any single piece of evidence that I do not love my club. You will find none of the crap that is posted by many a contributor who reacts to an individual game as though the last 90 minutes is death or glory. Had you been to Northampton you may have had a different perspective on Saturday's performance. DW said we were unspectacular till the first goal. Many on here said we were too. After that we were excellent. Watching the games leads to espousing an opinion thereafter. Some are more optimistic. Some are more cynical. I do not care for personal attacks, as much as (evidenced from the above post) you do not seem to care for contrary opinions. And THAT is is personal as it gets from me.
Just noticed this as its come back to the top As BarnsleyReds says below I've also just read your other new post - I was at Northampton and you are right we were unspectacular until the first goal but I disagree that afterwards we were excellent. I'd have said we did OK and we deserved a point especially after coming back twice but we didnt play anything like as well as we did against the Gills - whether thats because Coventry are a better side ( I think they are) and we were away from home or because we are still improving I dont know - I think a combination of all 3. We will probably have some more good victories and also some inept defeats but we seem to be moving in the right direction at last and not wondering where the next game is coming from. To say we have only Jennings that can beat a man is just wrong though - and Brown doesnt need to if he can put in crosses like the one Winnall scored from on Saturday - at the risk of being taken wrongly Beckham couldnt beat a man either but it didnt hurt his game much ( and I am not saying Brown is anything like Beckham by the way )
