Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Thanks for that Tek. It all just gets more and more complicated and a decision has to be made in 3 weeks time. Yes I do agree that a lot of nonsense is spouted by Salmond but equally the same can be said for Darling and the Better Together campaign. The only real thing I take out of it all is that if we (Scotland) had nothing to offer and would possibly sink like a rock after achieving independence then England would help us to go rather than try and keep us as they are doing. So we must have something going for us. As you quite rightly say, believe a politician? No I don't, so why should I believe an English/Tory politician who is only looking after his own ends and not Scotland's interests.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Latest figures from the YES campaign. 4.1m people registered to vote, 80% (3.28m) turnout expected To win we need 1.64m; Yes Declaration already has 1.3m signatures Only saying.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... I've lived here for 22 years and I will be voting NO. My Scottish wife is voting No and my 16 year old daughter is voting No too. To be honest I don't personally know many people up here who will vote YES but thats purely down to networks and my extended family. But I think it will be close and could go either way. All very sad that it has even got this far.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... But will that be your pound or ours.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... It will be our pound, controlled by us, sold to Scotland at an interest rate that suits us with future financial decisions set by us. If Scotland decide to use the pound they can't suddenly start to decide what it's worth in the open economy As I said earlier... Independance, or lack of it!!
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Aye you have said an affy lot my southern friend and ya know what is bothering you. Whatever happens you cannot do a single thing about it. I have the vote. 2.5m yes voters have the vote. We will be independent. Might be better off might not. That is the gamble and our choice but do not think for one moment that the outcome will not affect you. Nothing will ever be the same and England will be all the poorer. Why do you think Westminster cares so much about Scotland? They have never cared before. For once mate Scotland is calling the shots. Just deal with it.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... The problem is that the vote is looking very close - almost half of the electorate are going to be disappointed - so have to hope that people can put the bitterness and the arguing aside when it's done and get down to work with each other, whatever the outcome.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Absolutely spot on my friend. All good and well bantering on a message board which means nothing but the real test will come when the losers have to accept the result. Gotta hope that civil unrest does not ensue. The divide between the Yes and No supporters is huge and bitterness between supporters is beginning to show. Only today Gordon Brown (remember him?) was shouted down at a Better together meeting. Don't think punches were thrown but certainly a lot of pushing and shoving. Not good.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Excuse me? I'm genuinely pleased Scotland has been granted this opportunity with the need for the usual cause of action of a civil war! my own concern has no bearing on either outcome, I'm English, I fight for my country and queen as part of the Royal Navy, I believe in our work and we are a force for good, As do many many Scotsmen. It might be hard telling them next week they haven't got jobs anymore. My point about the currency is no one actually knows yet, Scotland is being asked to decide with only limited information and this is for keeps, no going back
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Telling Scots that they don't have a job anymore has never been a problem to any English government before. So why would it be a problem now? So you are a sailor. Good on you. Follow orders and no need to think for yourself. Hmm. I'm not really into fighting and as far as I'm concerned this country we live in is nothing but a war mongering country of which I am not proud. And BTW my father also served in the RN during WW2. Cameron and Blair before him just couldna wait to get involved in illegal wars with USA. Look at all the bother it has brought us. And as for your Queen. Sorry but to me she is a parasite and her family a pile of scroungers. No time for any of them I'm afraid.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... I think as I'm more than capable of thinking for myself thanks, just as every one of is I'm sure that's it's your queen as well, now I know Alex salmond thinks a lot off himself and behaves as if he's president of Scotland but I've yet to see a denouncement of the monarchy!
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... LOL Aye ok mate. Just threw the no thinking for yourself to get a wee reaction. I'm absolutely positive you are a well educated man but we do differ on the situation the country is in at the moment. Obviously Salmond has to try and be everyone's friend and to put down the monarchy would alienate himself from those voters which is why he has said in the past the the queen would remain as head of state as in Australia. For me I have never had any time for the royal family. To me the days of pandering to the upper classes is and should be a thing of the past. If you think different I accept your view but will never agree with it.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... I have this view and I could be miles off the mark but IMO its the viciousness of the current and previous Tory Govts that kick the lower middle and working classes whilst smiling and smirking to each other whilst passing all the wealth to their backers that have given campaigns such as the referendum in Scotland such vigour. Its the Greedy bstds that have fuelled these debates and they still don't or want to get it.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... Absolutely spot on marlon. Couldna put it better mysel. When you treat folk with total disrespect and deny them any means in which to improve themselves, leaving them feeling inferior it's not hard to see why the masses are revolting. For me independence is a means to be rid of the said parasites.
Re: If you take away the Conservative bias that you get from the Telegraph.... They're trying to sneak in proposals that if any business is not allowed to maximise profits by eg govt enforcing the living wage on them that they can make such actions illegal.absolutely scandalous and the media investigations bought off with promises of watered down legislation from the Levinson enquiry.then they wonder why people want to leave this fat cat takes all thiefdom
I wonder if the no campaign wins.... Can the rest of the UK then have a vote on wether we want to get rid of Scotland? Only seems fair to me... They can have a vote on getting rid of us...! Just a thought!
I'd have to vote no. I really am not qualified to judge but it all seems a big gamble to vote yes. Even If everything were to work out as planned by Salmon I don't see what the big gain is. However if it were to go pear shaped I really wouldn't want to be part of it.
