Presume some posters have seen the video on the page below

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...bike-crash-try-stop-families-going-agony.html

Shocking video - hope no-one here rides at that speed. Whether or not the car driver was at fault for turning, surely the biker was gambling with his life riding at those speeds. He was gambling everything on the hope that no other driver made a single false move - It would have been completely out of his hands if that driver, or any other in his path made one error to put him at risk, or indeed if there was any other kind of obstacle or hazard in his path - kid on the road, debris, backup up traffic, whatever.

Hate to say it 'cos the kid's dead, but surely if he had a penchant for doing nearly a ton on A roads in the middle of the day, it was only going to be a matter of time.

Brave of his mother to release to video. Hope it shocks a few into thinking.

    Horrific footage.

When I learned to drive some 40 odd years ago, my instructor told me

"Driving is 50% handling the vehicle, and 50% thinking all the other drivers are idiots".

    Drive or ride thinking that.

    RIP.

To be fair you don't need to ride a motorbike to know that they shouldn't be being ridden at 90 mph on a public road

No. Was a two wheeled commuter for a few years until I got taken out.

The car cutting across was at fault and I'm more than happy to critise ****s in tax boxes for not paying due care and attention however, i will give the driver of the car a fair bit sympathy as it's nigh on impossible to see a bloke on a super bike giving it some never mind judging speeds etc when he is bombing towards a junction at the best part of a ton who is almost as culpable as the car driver in this accident.

speed may be a factor, but it doesn't get away from the fact that she cant have looked, big bike coming, headlight on...she must have been blind as a fcukin bat.

Re: question DSL are you a Biker ?

I am not DT - never been on one, wouldn't ever want to go on one, wouldn't have the first clue how to control one, wouldn't try and suggest to anyone else how to control one or how best to ride one - I would shat myself trying to ride one to be honest. I am happy to drive a car any day thanks.

Why do you ask though - does that make me not qualified to suggest that it is madness to do a ton on a busy road? Sorry - my bad.

For what its worth, I am not defending the fact that the car driver pulled into his path, although I do have some sympathy, even though I know that's gonna be controversial, as even if he saw him, it is going to be difficult to judge in in instant the fact that the biker is doing 100mph and will be right up next to him in a second or two because he is covering 150 feet a second.

What I was suggesting is that the biker was risking his own life doing those kinds of madness speeds - I don't have to be a biker to know whether that is true or not, surely that's just common sense isn't it?. The car driver may well be to blame for turning into his path but the apportionment of blame on the car driver ain't gonna help the biker is it - he's dead either way.

I don't think it would've made a difference if he was doing 30mph or 130mph, look how close he was to the car when it pulled out in front of him. 100% car drivers fault, lucky not to be up on a manslaughter charge.

erm it was a bloke driving.

Im a biker but always ride defensive. Coming up to a junction like that i always slow down and until i see the whites of their eyes see me i back right off.

Shocking video and wil certainly be on my mind next time im out for a ride. That horrid moment when you know there is nothing you can do but hit something and its going to hurt... yuk. Bad enough if in a car when i spun on snow and hit the curb once but i just hope i never get hit by a car on the bike. Worst nitemare.

All road users. Any vehicle travelling at such speed (way above the speed limit) will cause problems for other road users. Gives people every right to have their say.

If we flip the scenario and a biker turns across the path of a car doing 97mph, what are the thoughts on that. Still clearly the vehicle turnings fault?

A lot of bikers are nutters, you see them every weekend going way too fast on windy country roads, it's like they've got a death wish.
