The last one cost the tax payer £500K ... whilist supporting the freedom of speech and to the right to march etc ..... the police move "high profile" football game to Sunday morning KOs etc ... surely they could allow the "march" but with conditions such as 9am on a Sunday morning ... which would reduce the likelyhood od disorder, and reduce the £££ policing bill,
I for one object to my Tax £££ being spent on this nonsense.

Got a few mates who are coppers and all agree the absolute disgrace at the last one where about 150 EDL turned up and 5 billion cops!!!! total over reaction and a complete waste of public money.
This is where political correctness has gone into overdrive, anything to do with alleged racism and they poo themselves and they suddenly find loads of money to police these events

Theyd be better off using the money to provide support for the victims and finding the actual guilty people rather than doing a stupid march

That said, I don't think the march should be allowed to go ahead at all at this stage. Totally agree with Supertyke - priority should be sorting the mess out & making sure it doesn't happen again & putting the guilty behind bars.

While I pity and despise EDL at the same time, I think as long as they are peaceful and legal, they should be allowed to march. We still live in a democracy, and I personally see it more as an opportunity to expose how stupid they are.

All well and good but the kind of moron that will attend these events will be the kind that will easily degenerate into violence and disorder, disrupting the lives and businesses of innocent folk.

If the English ever need defending it won't be by this bunch of half wit racists. My message to most of them is have a wesh then get a ****ing job.

the sad thing is, the EDL are using this as a points scoring exercise, they are not objecting to these disgraceful crimes but they,re objecting to the perpitrators who committed them, would they have been so up in arms had it been white english men that had committed the crimes....what does need looking at though is what the country is coming to when the people who are supposed to be protecting our kids are afraid to speak out incase they,re accused of racism, that can never be right..

"would they have been so up in arms had it been white english men that had committed the crimes...."

An awful lot of white English men tonight (and every night) will be on chat rooms grooming children...Shamefully it's ignored.

What the EDL are and what they were set up for are two different things, which is unfortunate as that lad who set them up (who has now left) says some valid things. He became a target for our politically correct media who discredited him for things he did when he was younger and often mis-quoted his more recent speeches to discredit him further.

It's unfortunate that the people who latched onto the EDL are totally non-tolerant to any other race, we could definitely do with a movement which highlights the issues without appearing to be so far right - ie one that copies the Australian mentality.

    Enlighten me...

The Aussie approach is to put immigrants in camps. Pretty right wing in my book
