I know the linesman gave it, but it didn't look over the line to me. Was it?

Conversely, I thought Davies walked one of their's in during the first half. He caught it on the line then took five steps backwards.

Aye, said at the time that if that didn't go in then Davies must have 6 foot arms.

Would like to see it again but it looked like Davies was way behind the line. Think we got away with one there. He had a poor game today. Just seen goals again and he should have done much better with first 2. Add that to his stepping back over the line and appalling kicking and it was a day to forget.

To be fair to him though he has done well until today.

Like you said, I thought he'd played really well until today. Today was one to forget. We didn't sign him as our first choice. He was back-up to Steele and when Steele left we brought in Turnbull. Turnbull would be playing if fit, but he's not. When you play kids, no matter how good they are, they'll have a few games when it really goes against them. Today was one of those days for Davies, and for a few of the other less experienced lads too to be fair.

Looked on sky over line but not the best angle. I also thought the catch was close.

Yet that is the first time I have seen this said today, if it had been Steele there would have been 10 threads about it ? Strange how mit gets overlooked when Steele is not between the sticks !

I played in goal in a mixed age team last week, first game of football I've played for 5 years. No training. And im normally an outfield player. I managed to put it in the vicinity of our strikers every time. I just don't get why professional players who practice all week can't kick accurately. It's a disgrace tbh.

Both looked over the line to me..I was really surprised that none of their players made a big shout for it.

Did you have 9000 people putting you under pressure?

It's strange that we seem to have a problem finding keepers who don't kick the ball into touch. It's one of life's little mysteries, like why can't I ever pick cars that have windscreen wipers that don't squeak. :)

Dont suppose he did, but then again it is not his main occupation, one where having a crowd of people there is a reality for a PROFESSIONAL player ! If they cannot hack it, they are in the wrong job !

I don't know if you watched the Arsenal, Man City game earlier but those two keepers were kicking out of play, some not even making it to half way line. All keepers kick out of play. We'll see it from Turnbull, We'll see it from Davies

I've nowt to add to that. Except for I have played in front of a crowd before (nowhere near 9000 I'll add) and I'd like to think that it wouldn't make me unable to do a basic skill.

To be fair Mark, he was asked to pick out Berry on the wing with his kicks. He hit him with one which Berry won. That led to a throw in from which we hit the post. Three others he over hit and they went in to touch. After that he put the rest of his kicks down the middle. I guess, in training, we practiced that and it was working in setting up attacks. Today he didn't have the same accuracy. We all have those days. I don't think it helped that after the very first kick he over hit there was a massive grumble from the crowd. After the second a bunch of blokes behind us were booing him. I thought I'd be battling with half a dozen blokes in their 50s at half time as they didn't take too kindly to me telling them to shut the **** up. I'm sure it'll happen one game this season.

I think you will find that those keepers should be able to keep it in play too.
If an outfield player constantly kept kicking the ball straight out of play, do you think people would not say anything ?
Also I was commenting about how it was a regular feature on here about Steele, yet not about Davies !

I am not saying that he should be perfect , but at the start of the season I said that I would point out the fact that keepers kick the ball out of play, not just Steele and I will keep on doing it every time it happens. I know it is petty but I heard it so many times , people slating Steele yet it seems any other keeper can get away with it.
Steele was told to kick the ball out to the wings , by the last 4 managers, but it was never picked up on, only that he kicked it out of play.

I wasn't sure at the time. Put it this way I thought the ball that Davies walked in was more over the line but wasn't given.

I'm with you on that. I was a huge fan of Luke Steele fan both as a keeper and a person (still am). I couldn't give a **** if he kicked it out of play every time he had the ball. He was employed to stop the opposition from scoring and he did that as well as any keeper I've seen play for Barnsley and we've had some bloody good uns.
