The same Flitcroft who was part of Keith's team? Are we saying Flitcroft now had bugger all to do with Keith's 18 months here, despite him being right hand man? Fact is, I've never known a more involved number two at Oakwell. They came as a pair. Yes, Flicker turned it around. The lads united, with a couple of key additions. It was a fantastic spell. Bobby, Fozzy, Daggers and Steele to the fore. COGba on loan. Jason Jason. Big Marlon. Great times. Albeit very brief. But then Flicker pissed all that away. Bobby, Fozzy, Marlon, Jason, Steele and Daggers especially. He lost the ******* plot and his tactic was seemingly "give it to Paddy". And he failed. Just as Keith did. Just as every bloody manager I've known at Oakwell has (except perhaps one or two) including Danny Wilson who has to take his share of the blame for last season and playing bellends like Shea and Frimpong. Keith Hill failed. He was a bit of a lovely person. He was also bloody adored on here just as much. But that period has been forgotten. When he had us looking at the top six, higher than we'd been for over ten years. When we were smashing Birmingham up, 5-0, and folk were saying they didn't want new owners if it meant Keith was to be replaced. Same time we had threads saying Mellis was better than Butterfield, that Craig Davies was the best striker since sliced bread. Folk take it too seriously. Keith failed. You don't like him. He left. Move on eh? We're doing 'ok' so far. I'm satisfied anyway, but hoping for gradual improvement. But if we don't improve, and we're relegated or whatever, I won't be harking back to Keith Hill or David Flitcroft or Jim bloody Iley's tenures and blaming them.
I haven't posted one word about Keith Hill since January. But I've just got in from the York Beer Festival and I'm pissed. Hill signed players based on the reduced budget he was given. He was a loudmouth big head. He got us playing amazing football at times. He's a better manager than Flitcroft. Our current position has **** all to do with him.
From a Dale perspective: He was a loudmouth big head. He got us playing amazing football a lot of the time.. He's a better manager than Flitcroft. Our current position has everything to do with him
Yay, drunk ark. Say something controversial. Go on, you know you want to. What's with the user name BTW?
Kurt Cobain may not have committed suicide. How's that? ARK are my initials. When I started at York Uni my given email address was ark104, ie I was the 104th ARK on the uni's email system. I use it for loads of stuff. How mind numbingly boring is that?
Again, I agree Andy lad. On the Kurt thing. And the boring thing. I'm going to bed now, in fresh clean sheets...
No, I like that. My name comes from Uni too. My name on my birth certificate is James, but I was always called Jamie by my parents and my friends from school. I never really liked Jamie, so anyone new I met after 16 I said my name was James. First day at Uni I introduced myself to a guy in our halls and he said, "Alright Jay mate, how's it going?" From that point forward I was Jay. Some people only know me as Jay, some Jamie and some James. To be honest, I'll answer to owt if it starts with a J.
I doubt that. I've been unfortunate enough to see the pictures of the mess he left of himself after he did it. That doesn't prove anything one way or the other like, just some random information.
As old as my Dad and spends his life trying to abuse people on a message board. I suppose it's a bit sad really. Tragic even.
Sorry. Didn't realise that only yourself is allowed to abuse others. I'll add, coward, to your "credits"
Go on then Hill (one of the -if not THE- most divisive dislikeable managers I can remember) AND his mate shafted us. Yes Flitcroft had one short memorable spell, bu then he lost it a bit, dismantled all his good work and lost it all together.
No he didn't change it. He managed to motivate our awful squad into some temporary performances, massive difference to changing the fabric of the club which keef had his hand in. That's some people's point. Me, I'm one for looking forward. Good riddance to the Rochdale 2, let's move on. No hard feelings but both were ultimately massive failures at bfc, no amount of banging the same drum by you will change that. And keef was a lovely person while here with his offensive against the fans, through not being able to handle a bigger club IMO. There's nowt you can say to change that either.
"Chuffin Fleetwood". I suspect similar things were said about "chuffin Barnsley" whenever we took points if other teams in the Prem all those years ago.
I'd just like to add, Keith hill didn't keep us up. Portsmouths inability to balance the cheque book did
