I don't think it's really fair to blame J-Lo for women being raped Jay. I don't think it's supposed to empower women, I think she just likes being a c0ck tease. No doubt she likes the fact that millions of men are wnaking over her (not literally of course). It's nice to feel sexy, if I weren't a teacher I'd probably make one myself
The other odd thing is that Iggy whatshername has been sexualy assaulted on stage by fans who have seen her videos and heard her lyrics and assumed she wants it. Its got so bad for her (actually being fingered by fans who got too close) that she wears two pairs of knickers and a pair of tights under her outfits to stop anyone forcing their fingers up there and yet she still makes this video. Id have thought she would want to change her image when things like that have happened.
That's horrendous! She may have made this in an attempt to show that she won't let things get to her. She definitely needs better security though.
If it's a subject you're interested in, this is as good a place as any to start, but you'll be able to find hundreds of other research papers that lead to the same conclusions. There's a distinction between feeling and looking sexy and the overt sexualization of women that is occurring more and more. “Sexualized portrayals of women have been found to legitimize or exacerbate violence against women and girls, as well as sexual harassment and anti-women attitudes among men and boys,” Hatton said. “Such images also have been shown to increase rates of body dissatisfaction and/or eating disorders among men, women and girls; and they have even been shown to decrease sexual satisfaction among both men and women.” http://psychcentral.com/news/2011/08/11/medias-growing-sexualization-of-women/28539.html
I'm not in any doubt that violent attacks may increase but I still believe the fault lies with the person doing the attacking, not women for showing off their bodies. Men have been posing provocatively for years but women haven't felt the need to start attacking firemen and diet coke advertisers. It seems that young men need more education about respecting women, not that the women themselves need to stop creating these videos. You said you didn't understand why she would make a video to give men something to wnak over, I just gave you a reason for that - it might make her feel attractive.
