we do seem a bit lightweight on the pitch and danny may have to get tough with a few players too . we seem a soft team to play against at the moment
I suspected all along this was going to happen: a pretty slow start bringing out the dissenters. Before we even start to think about sacking Danny - and that day is a good few defeats away yet - can anyone name me an alternative who a) has a better record b) could work within the budget and c) would come to Barnsley?
We shouldn't even be having this kind of thread. No offence to BigLil, I know why he created it. But anyone advocating managerial change this early, with all mitigating circumstances considered, doesn't deserve a ******* riposté. Not just a plain riposté. A ******* one. But as we're having this thread, I'll say I'm still backing the manager. As well as hoping he starts seeing the woods over them there trees.
I'm backing him 100%, and will do for a long time yet, the whole of this season as an absolute minimum no matter what happens. This is a building exercise and we have to trust in the fact that we have someone at the helm who can build us a successful team. I do. That doesn't mean that I am totally happy with things at the moment though - I'm not. Today was gash and we won't, in my opinion, trouble the top 6 this season.
Seems weird how people who claim to support our club would rather further their agenda of criticising a manager they don't like than supporting our team. Never fave the chap a chance closed minded and dull repetitive criticism from people who probably venture to Oakwell a couple of times a season. We will not get promoted this season. We are a young side still developing and making mistakes that's not going to change. We are not the windy Massives we have no automatic right to success. I would suggest if you can't understand that then maybe support Manure or Chelski or summat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
"the whole of this season as an absolute minimum no matter what happens" Not for me i'm afraid. I respect your opinion but if things are no better by January the fact is he will be gone as fans will demand change. I hope it doesn't come to that and we turn the corner but if something ain't working you have to address the fault. This is Wilson's side and he alone will succeed with it, or fall by it.
When someone says "I hope it doesn't come to that" but you know they mean the exact opposite. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
It's not a question of loyalty. It's a question of knowing that our team needed rebuilding, knowing that it takes more than 5 minutes, and believing that we have someone who, given the time that a proper rebuilding exercise takes, will make a success of it. You might not believe that - I do. I remember that, in his first spell in charge, his first 2 seasons after Viv Anderson ran away were distinctly average. But slowly he built a top side.
Yeah, you change the players, as you slowly but surely continue the rebuilding exercise. Some players work and some don't. Why is it that when you say you have to address the fault, it has to mean change the manager?, We've tried that - it didn't fix it.
So your saying I want the opposite to what I stated ? If your thinking of taking up mind reading I'd give it a miss as your way off the mark!
"I remember that, in his first spell in charge" As stated by another member of this forum already today, "anyone else but Wilson in charge would be under pressure already" His past reputation is cutting him some slack which he deserves
You're right, his first spell in charge is cutting him some slack because it means that people know, through demonstrable evidence, that he can build success. The point I was making above is that, even first time round, it didn't come overnight. It took 2 seasons of average before it came good. If we re-run 94/95 and 95/96 now, would he still be in charge at the end of the second season - I doubt it. People don't have patience any more, but if we believe that we have a manager who is capable of building the success we want, we have to be patient.
"Some players work and some don't" A valid point but if some players are not performing in selected positions why persist in playing them there eg: Brown at Right Back It appears he isn't suited to this position but is continually selected for it game after game and at the moment is having a torrid time.
Im not against him at all but hes making a lot of mistakes at the mo. Cant believe he thought wed be ok in the ale house league with fancy neat players. We need a bruiser down the spine imho. We are already losing massive ground on the top teams. Already looking like a season of consolidation rather than doing owt. Disappointing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
