Right. As much as I dislike police, I dislike idiot football hooligans even more. I'm pretty sure that would have been carnage, had the cops not been there

Dont get me wrong Whitey I know you're not the kind of person to deliberately look for trouble but is it possible that drink has been a factor in you finding yourself 'cajoled' into areas without realising it? You told us just the other day that due to drink you were getting pretty aggressive and abusive at the match due to drink and that you even managed to forget to meet Ben Mansford because for want of a better word you were pissed. You also mentioned a similar fact a few weeks ago when you listed how many drinks you usually have before a game. Perhaps this is leads you, as a fan who is a bit more under the influence than you realise, to get caught up in things but think you're doing nothing at all wrong.

I also really don't like the idea of there being two classes of hooligans with plastic ones being cnuts but real hooligans being organised and better in that they dont involve anyone else (despite you saying theyre still morons your post makes it clear that they are better than the 'plastics'). There is only one type of hooligan and that is an hooligan and they are the scum that cause ALL the problems at football matches. Take the violent and aggressive hooligans out of the game and you have stopped ALL the trouble with supporters. Police will have nothing to police. There will be nobody to pepper spray, nobody to put through a window and nobody to upset .Oh and we'll all enjoy lower ticket prices too

It's fvckin embarrassing from all sides imo. But it's 'supporters' who are to blame for there having to be a police presence in the first place. I agree the police don't do the job well though. Football is the only 'event' to need such a police presence, they should be present but in a public service capacity rather than having to keep numpties apart.

The biggest mob of hooligans in modern football are the police.

Wow. Thaz used some creative license theeear old pal.

I didn't forget to meet Ben Mansford because I was pissed. Me and the lads I go with were drinking in town, we weren't pissed. We were just chatting away, watching the Arsenal game and I hadn't realised the time. I was never intending to be there for 1pm as suggested by Ben. No offence to him, but I'd never agreed to a set time. I said I'd be in there 'around' 1pm. But yes, I wasn't pissed. Not at that point. However, as I decided to leave the pub, I had three quarters of a pint left and drained it in one. And aye, once in Redfearn's I was supping far too quickly. It was the speed of drinking that did for me, but hey ho, it happens. The aggression and abusive language later on was brought on by that speed of supping, AND the ***** football served up. Not big, not clever and as I've since stated on countless occasions, shameful behaviour on my part.

As for listing what I drink before a game, that was in reference to NIGHTMARE and him saying he had 76 cans on a matchday. I can normally, and do, handle my ale/gob/emotions. That particular afternoon I let mi sen darn. But mistakes are good if they help you improve yourself. Or summat.

I wasn't pissed last weekend to the extent that I was wobbling around, slurring my words or owt that bad. It just brought my big gob out, and I've a foul mouth at the best of times. It's that I'm ashamed of. I went for more drinks after that, after the game, and I was as calm as it gets. So calm, I fell asleep ont train home and ended up 20 miles away. And then I woke up feeling *****, and the next day ashamed of some of my antics in that second half.

I don't for a minute think I'm the only one on here who's ended up in that state, but I know some wouldn't be so open about it, but tha knows what am like. But mate, I wouldn't ever compare that rare state I was in for a small period in that second half, with the state or mindset you'd have to be in to want to act the moron with opposing fans and the police at a game of football. Ask bossman. I'm away from Oakwell as quick as Deon Burton.

I wasn't defending folk like that. I was defending anyone caught up in it innocently, and, suggesting the police weren't very helpful from what I've gathered from very respectable blokes/lasses.

    Rant over. :)

I am so f**king angry after watching that, yes there's a few nob heads who appear to charge forward at some point but they've definitely been provoked by the police.

What gives the police the f**king right to spray CS f**king gas over a crowd of people, most of whom were just stood there minding their own business, presumably held back for a period of time before being escorted to the station.

I really wish I'd have gone and seen this so that I could give a proper account of what went on from both sides and made sure a complaint was properly dealt with. I'd urge anyone who did witness this to complaint to the police forces involved, the press, MPs and also inform the various fan groups out there who have been campaigning against this kind of treatment by the police for years now.

We apparently live in a free country, yet if you're a football fan, you can do absolutely nothing wrong but be forced to leave a particular town/city and not be allowed to return for 24 hours on a whim. It's disgusting.
