Excellent Whitey, cheers. My 82 year old dad will be chuffed to bits when I show this to him. Wouldn't be surprised if he was there.
Here's one from 5 years later: Can't find any mooore, so dunt ask. Putting a compilation of BFC goals together for a video. Got some beauties already. From Banks to Barnard, Biggins to Bogdanovic. And they're just the B's.
One from 1929... I found this one from 1929: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/wembley-the-goal-blackburn-v-barnsley/query/barnsley
Typical soft goal, ****in useless. Ward out, Ward out etc ad infinitum down the ages whenever summat goes wrong.
Wilf Bartrop looks a hard bug*er in that 1912 photo'! These newsreels remind me of what the game has lost. Packed grounds and real atmosphere (even in lower divisions) due in part to being both cheap enough for young-uns to spend their pocket money and lower paid working people to attend regularly and the fact that you were stood cheek by jowl on the terraces. Even in the early '70s when I first started watching the Reds when we were in the old 4th division and not doing that well it was common to have 12-15k in the ground and the Ponty (and Kop-depending on which end we were attacking since lots of us changed ends at half time) was packed every game.
