Our left was the weak area - Nyatanga was poor, for a chap so highly rated a few years back. Hemmings offered no protection to our left back, who as a result was constantly over-run. Winnall should not have been on his own - its obvious that he needs to play with a big target man; he worked hard but with no return. First half was better, with Cranie playing in midfield - but as others have said, in the second half we just fell asleep. Have always felt we needed a no-nonsense ball-winner in midfield. Not going to Rochdale, but I think Danny will turn it around. It reminds very much of the season when Mel Machin spent the Carl Tyler transfer cash on, (was it 8 new players??), - and we were equally at sea...
For me it's the defence, first and foremost. But attack is a worry. And midfield is lightweight. Ross Turnbull is excellent.
We were poor all over the park today. Except GK and I don't apportion any blame or criticism at Bree either. All their dangerous work came down our left as I remember it, with LB and LCB being particularly bad. The rest were meh. We have numerous players in the squad who really are struggling at this level. We are desperate for an experienced CM. But I honestly think we're just as desperate for a couple of other positions too.
Just heard the Hutchings audiobollocks. He says he was looking for characters during the game. Then says we need to recruit some experience etc. Bobby would waltz into this team. And he'd take home five, six times less money than some of them sat on todays bench.
Attack as a team and defend as a team. Neither at the moment, yet earlier on we looked like both looked ok and we expected to improve. What's gone wrong.
Instead, we spent a week looking at fat, injury prone, 31 year old failure, Stephen Pearson. This analytical approach is great.
