Do you misunderstand how the political system works?

 

Not the most lucid post I've ever written, I'm just saying anyone representing Labour in Barnsley, whether that be an MP or councillor, knows that they don't really have to do much persuading to get people to vote for them, they do very little, and then get re-elected.

I'm not going to vote for Dan Jarvis (assuming he is the candidate), I'm just as bad as everyone else in that I wouldn't feel comfortable voting for a Conservative, and the Lib Dems are probably worse than the Tories now. If there is no alternative then I probably won't bother to vote at all.

 

Hmmm, I'd say Peter Barnes was a more appropriate comparison.

 

This is bizarre. Really it is.

We've got a Tory government who are not hiding their intentions. THey are going to gouge public services hard (£3 billion pounds), they going to raise the threshold for the top rate of inheritance tax (for millionaires, obviously), and the threshold on the top rate of tax for people earning what was £40k - to now £50k.

We have an empty promise that the NHS will be protected by an emotional Prime Minister 'How dare they suggest...' invoking the memory of his dead son (not being funny, did he go private?).

Nothing very meangingful being said about why a) the Chancellor has failed to grip the major international tax avoiders who should be owing hundreds of millions, or why we have settled up such piss weak deals with them and b) why we are being promised MORE austerity when the Coalition borrowing is UP, and the deficit targets have been missed by miles.

This is real ******** - so have a promise of a tax cut.

No provision for people employed and living below the poverty line. Nothing for the divided society and the increasing numbers of haves, and have nots. Nothing to tackle the cost of living crisis. Just the same braying Tory arrogance - Borris Johnson 'Let's eat the 'Kippers for Breakfast!' (UKIP). Boris, you presumably eat kippers for breakfast, served by your buttler, in your breakfast room. It just makes me feel a million miles away from the world in which you and George Osbourne, and Nick Clegg and Michael Gove and David Cameron live.

The subtext is prerparing the NHS for privatisation. They giving more tax breaks to the wealtheir people in society. The vulnerable and needy are going to get bashed again. As will public sector workers -teachers, police, fire rescue, ambulance, and so on. And Cameron wants to wreck our relationship with Europe.

Nick Clegg is unelectable. Slit his own throat making a deal with the the devil.

This appears to leave Milliband, who is still wearing his school prefects/blue peter badge and looks like a talented intern who has got unfinished business with puberty.
