Away from home? Winning away from home and keeping a clean sheet? Winning away from home and keeping a clean sheet at an in form team? In a fixture when most fans making a scoreline prediction prior to kick off were forecasting defeat and a heavy one at that? With some suggesting that this upcoming defeat could well spell the end of Danny Wilson's tenure as manager? And all this against a team managed by Keith Hill?
The reason I thought I'd ask these questions is because if it's not criticism of our players being unfit, then it's because they're idle, or incompetent, or all three! Then, if that's not enough, it's criticism of fellow Barnsley fans for one reason, or another.
I'm not advocating folk to whitewash everything at the club they may have an issue with, but come on. Surely any little grievance can be put to one side just for a little while whilst we enjoy a victory?

I don't know about anyone else, but I couldn't be happier. The cool thing to do would be to say the Rochdale fixture was just another game, and although the 3 points are highly valuable, the victory was no more important than the one at Crewe. You can't hurt an adversary any more than pretending they don't matter.

But that's ballacks. It meant a lot more to me than the victory at Crewe. Keith Hill wound me up. Not as an opposition manager, but when he was our manager. I thought and still believe he discredited us when he should have been promoting the club and the town at all times. I don't care that he wasn't a very good manager for us, we didn't have much money and the job was a tough ask. But I do care that we paid him handsomely yet he never showed the club and its history, the fans, the people of Barnsley or the town itself any respect. Not that I wish any ill will on the bloke. It doesn't hurt me in the slightest that he's doing well with Rochdale. He's clearly proved he's a very good manager in league 2 and he's starting to do OK in league 1. But I will always, always, always be desperate for my football team to beat his, whoever he happens to be managing.

I'm over the bloody moon today.

    You Reds!

To be truthful, I think a lot of fans are actually disappointed that we did win yesterday.

As you say the players/manager/club have had a bashing in recent weeks, so all those who keep predicting we would fail have been enjoying the "I told you so" mentality of late. Today they have nothing to say.

I think that is why people are so keen to say we will fail, because in football the you have a far bigger chance of failure than success, which then makes them right, it then makes them football experts.......

    they don't like being wrong

Theyre not little grievances. Its a cade of yet again selfish people at away games ruining other fans' enjoyment and overshadowing events on the pitch.

Smoking KILLS. Thats why it is banned indoors. I dont think somebody breaking the law and without being dramatic putting peoples health and even lives in danger is a little grievance. Id say its far more important than whether ramage puts a little white thing into a football net or not.

The only people taking the shine off and attention from the win are the selfish idiots whos actions yet again have been unacceptable.

Over the last couple of weeks it has appeared that a few people (and it is only a few) are much more concerned about being right than wanting to see their team win. When we do win they're quiet, not many posts, the few they bother with are analytical, picking up where we're still weak rather than celebrating the success or highlighting where we're strong. When we lose they're in everyone's face who has backed the manager, confrontational posts that take the view supporting our current manager is a weakness on our part and we've been doing something wrong.

Personally, I post a lot more when we win. Not because I'm being proved right, but because Barnsley winning makes me feel happy and I want to spend my weekend talking to fellow fans who feel the same way I do. When we lose I do a match report then try to forget it because all I really want to do is stick my head in a box and wait for the feeling of disappointment to go away. I'm too old to feel this way about a stupid football team, but I just can't help it.

I want to be right too of course, but I want to be right because that will mean our club is successful, not because it will prove I'm a football expert. I already know I'm not. Wilson being successful won't prove I am. All I've done is back our manager which is the easiest thing in the world to do. I've done it with all the others and I'll do it with the next one, so long as it's not the leader of ISIS or Kevin Blackwell.

I write reasonably well, but I know **** all.

Totally agree, old mate. I'm as guilty as you for letting BFC affect my mood swings. Even if we haven't won, I always try to highlight any positives I can see. I didn't like Davey when he was manager. But I'd have taken a successful Barnsley team managed by him over a less successful one which wasn't. For the simple reason that an achieving Barnsley team is more important to me than my ego needing to be massaged with the necessity of being proved right.

Everyone enjoyed the victory yesterday and the players deservedly were clapped off at full time but

"Smoking KILLS. Thats why it is banned indoors. I dont think somebody breaking the law and without being dramatic putting peoples health and even lives in danger is a little grievance. Id say its far more important than whether ramage puts a little white thing into a football net or not.

The above quote from a fellow poster has hit the nail firmly on the head regarding the issues of smoking in Football Grounds. It needs addressing once and for all and if that means creating a designated smoking area away from the non smokers than that's fine by me.
The Gents toilet at HT yesterday was to be quite frank a health hazard which non smokers should not be subject to.
And just to to it off my clothes are in the wash due to the lingering stench of cig smoke on them.
    Horrible.

He has a right to express his opinion without being abused ( as your post is doing ) even if others disagree with his opinion.

I was busy yesterday so didnt get chance to listen to the game or get any updates at all until I was on here last night. Other than knowing the lineup, scoreline and that they saved a good penalty I know nothing about the game. Of course I think its a fantastic win. Why wouldnt I?

Perhaps you should email Rochdale AFC? Or maybe our club? Dunno.

I smoke, by the way. And I disagree with smoking in the toilets. I think there ought to be designated areas for us smokers. It angers me that I'm judged though by the actions of other smokers. I went for a piss at half time, took me 5 minutes to squeeze in there, 5 to get back out, and I didn't need a cig as I'd taken in enough smoke passively.

Just think that thread last night wasn't necessary at that time. But some like to moan, even after a decent day/result. It could have waited until today, Monday, whenever. As it was, your kid was responded to by a poster who I'm guessing was **** faced. And so we get a two page thread of silly arguing on an evening where we should all be united in pleasure.

    Just my opinion.
