Not everyone's cup of tea, young Matt. A friend of mine though, and after his time recently in Kenya where he and his wife (through their charity work) have built a home for young, underprivileged Kenyan kids, he unwittingly picked up Malaria. He went down ill with it in the USA late last week, and is currently in a very bad way. We're getting updates from Becky all the time, but as of three hours ago he was still in ICU, with fluid on his lungs, an enlarged heart and the doctors fear he's likely to go into organ failure. And so whilst I know you aren't all religious (like he is) I'd appreciate it if folk could have him in their thoughts tonight if not their prayers. Cheers.
$hit! that's horrible news. i always thought he was a genuinely good guy with his heart in the right place. regardless of journalistic qualities. to pick something like this up, doing such an amazing thing, is horrible. i'm atheist, so prayers aren't my thing. but thoughts are definitely with family and friends right now. what's the twitter? i'm guessing someone might be picking up comments there?
Awful news. Never had a problem with the fella. I've had differences of opinion, but I could have an argument in an empty room. Hope he pulls through. Thinking of him and his family.
Life is so bloody awful at times. I knew Matt from church, he used to go to Darton Outreach about 10-12 years ago when I went with my kids, a nice lad . Not seen him for a few years. Hope he pulls through and I will say an extra prayer tonight. I will pass this on to others that know him too .
All the best to him, he seemed a decent guy on Twitter before he stopped posting. Massive respect to him for going out there in the first place. It's not somewhere I'd have the balls to go
Day before he became ill, we were arguing via txt message. He was giving me stats about Danny and saying any other manager would be sacked. I was saying to him to stop letting Bobby's release cloud his thinking etc. It wasn't nasty, we argue all the time about football. But I hope to argue with him again asap.
I've always got on well with Matthew. This is truly awful news. Whatever differences some have had with him in the past, I'm sure everyone wishes him well and want him to pull through. Good luck, Matthew, you can beat this.
