I thought Mellon was only in charge for three games, 2-1 win at Brighton, 1-0 defeat at Burnley, 1-1 draw with Yeovil?
When I worra lad, Johnny Steele was the manager and seemed a permanent fixture in the post. If we went through a poor spell of form & results, the removal of Mr Steele was never considered amongst the fans.
When I was a know-it-all teenager, I couldn't stand Jim Iley. Now I'm a know-bugger-all old man, I think he did an excellent job, especially considering he had both hands tied behind his back from a financial point of view.
Gudjon`s record was good when you take into account the ***** he had to put up with and the players he had at his disposal !
You're right, old mate. To do what he did in those circumstances was impressive. With respect to your earlier post, you're bang on with regards to John McSeveney. He was the worst Barnsley manager we've had in all the years I've been watching us, in my opinion.
Him and Hill for me, for different reasons though. I knew that McSeveney was ***** even though I was only young and I knew bugger all about anything else. Hill was just awful , yet people still think he did a good job ! Opinions and all that eh ?
Yup. That's why it doesn't bother me when I read the stick Danny Wilson gets from some. They're only expressing their opinion, it simply differs from mine, that's all. I didn't like McSeveney, Iley (at the time), Parkin, Spackman, Hodges, Hart or Davey. Others did.
