I've worked in the city of London a fair bit over the years and even lived fairly close in the past. Even so, I just been a little bit shocked at the price of a beer... How much change from a £20 note do you think I've just had for 2 330ml bottles of beer (Asahi as it happens)
Serves you right for being a poncey tw@t drinking in posh places and only ordering Japanese bottled lager
Paid £5.15 for a pint in Call Landing, Leeds a couple months back. Broke my £5 a pint duck. Granted, it was some lardy da, fancy larger and the barman did warn me of it's price. But as I'd been stung all afternoon on overpriced standard larger, I thought why not. Tasted good, although will not be buying again.
Imported beer can be six or seven quid a pint here, but it's usually good. My zenith was in Bergen, Norway. A tenner for half a litre of Carlsberg. WTF?!
This! I was worried at first given we are going down to London for a few days next month....it'll be ar lasses wine or g&t's that is pushing the price to ridiculous. Recall last year in a pub near Borough Market, pint of Woodforde's Wherry and a mulled cider was about £11! I'd actually just handed over the tenner I had in my hand as he was saying how much it was before I realised he needed more!
You could have gone in the pub at the left side of the tower and paid much nearer to £5 a pint... and think there is a nicholsons just opposite My stamping ground as our office are just off liverpool st ;-) Still just about find beer £4-5 a pint
