Reading a Coventry blog, and loved this description of Jimbo. On the plus side, fans of running about a lot have been impressed with industriously inefficient workhorse Jim O’Brien; a player who is widely regarded as having played well for us despite no one being able to remember what he’s actually done.
You could have taken his name out and put that quote on as a quiz question and let us all guess which ex-player was being described. I reckon we'd have all got the right answer!
Aye, it certainly describes him to a tee. They're struggling all of a sudden. Since the move home actually.
Jim's a good player to have if you've got 1 or 2 quality players in the team with him as he's an intelligent player who keeps the balance of the team & will cover for team mates. He was good for us when we had the likes of Hammill & then later Vaz Te constantly attacking down the other side & he'd often tuck in & make it a 3 in the middle. The problem with O'Brien is when you're struggling & you start looking to him to create things his lack of ability shows up
Dunno I think he's a good team player, otherwise he had me fooled as well, which isn't hard as I know nothing about football
I wanted Jim to stay. I appreciated his qualities. But that quote was funny. It's the same stuff I saw posted on here for the last 3 years about him.
I was a fan and would have liked him to have stayed. A winger who looks like a winger rather than built like arr Keef and Dale. Protected the flair players really well so if we still had him it would make the job of Houriane and Cole easier for a start.
