The subject of a sick song, chanted by hooligans all over the country. Will shortly be released from nick after 44 yrs inside.
According to wiki they had done away with Death Penalty in England. 8 months before he shot the policemen.
I assume this is what you are referring to http://www.channel4.com/news/harry-roberts-police-killer-dangerous-man-released-video don't know about the song though.
God knows why I remember it and I certainly NEVER sang it but it went "Harry Roberts is our king is our king. Harry Roberts is our king, he kills scuffers". That was if I remember rightly a Scouse term for policemen so that is probably where it originated
BBC Hooligan Documentary roughly 2002 - Millwall Fans were heard singing this throughout Since then been heard at oakwell and away days many times
I used to sing it and I'm obviously an hooligan.............it weren't 'scuffers'...........if I remember right if were 'coppers' At the time I used to think......who the hell is Harry Roberts? So although I used to join in singing it (and be honest, who hasn't?) I didn't exactly know what I was singing about
It was also friend not king as posted above. We sing if you are a Wednesday fan surrender or you will do die ( so we must be hooligans for threatening the life of Wednesday fans )
He didn't say that singing it makes you an hooligan, he said it was sung by hooligans. Like wearing Stone Island doesn't make you an hooligan, but hooligans wear it.
When I heard the cretins singing it in the 60s and 70s it was "is our king" but there are variations. "Is our friend" was another one and the Liverpool morons certainly used the word "scuffers" while others will have sung "coppers". The detail is less important than the disgusting glorification of lowlifes who carry shot guns to commit armed robberies and then kill unarmed policemen in cold blood just because they think they might get caught. The fact that people thought it was ok to sing songs about that kind of thing is just beyond belief. It is nothing to do with being a hooligan. It's to do with being a brainless, uneducated fool who doesn't know any better.
Do you honestly live in the real world. I don't agree with the song but Jesus Christ i hope you don't go and watch a comedian Majority of jokes are about people who have been murdered. Might not be funny but i can guarantee most on here will have sent or received a sick joking relating to someone famous that as been murdered or passed away, its just how life is.
What comedians do you go and watch? I've been to see loads and don't recall any doing a joke about a murder!
Yes, of course I live in the real world and I know exactly "how life is", as you put it. Don't let my user name fool you into thinking I am from some leafy Buckinghamshire backwater who knows nothing, has been nowhere and has "naive" for a middle name. I know all about sick humour and I have laughed at enough jokes on dubious subjects all my life. Sometimes you have to draw a line though, and joking about killing policemen (or anyone else for that matter) isn't right. Neither is singing "surrender or you'll die" whether you mean it or not.
