Top secret mate, I don't get these meetings where the few get information and are asked not to share it. On the topic of meetings id like to know why they never go to places like Penistone to generate support. The biggest supporters club is in fact in Penistone.

Have you contacted the Club to arrange a Penistone visit?

I'm personally only interested in open forums. And to be honest I'm not really that ar$ed about them either, at the minute. It's all icing sugar. Doesn't make a $hit cake taste any better

The last meeting Ben mentioned hoping to have Yorkshire Cricket Club come to the Brizzle game. Do we know if this is happening tomorrow?

I still think that rather than having shitloads of small metings where ben answers the same questions over and over and its up to a select few to interperate the answers and then pas the message on to others it would make much more sense to use technology and have q and a sessions where the vast majority can see his answers first hand. We stream reserve games on youtube sometimes so why not get streaming live and invite questions via twitter facebook texts or even on the phone. A bit like a radio sheffield q&a but in video.

But that won't work Mr S Upertyke because then the all important clique won't have the power that is knowledge over the 'ordinary' supporter and that just won't do!

Can you imagine that? The BBS let loose on a web-based QA? Conan whinging, Dragon with pi$$ed up diatribes that don't go anywhere, Spartacus not asking a single football question, Jay writing an essay every time, Nudger campaigning for UKIP with every question, Whitey communicating entirely through witty Google images. List goes on. Would be awesome

Actually, whitey wouldn't be there, would he. He'd have his very own private web session. Specialist

    You love me though. :)

But on this subject, Dyson made the best point. Those of us who've ever got any information have - by and large - shared it on here. Those who haven't, they're your 'cliqué' that people keep referring to. I might be a lot of things, but I'm as individual and un-cliquéy as it gets. Except when I'm lying. Which I never do. Honest.

The problem is Whitey that you (a collective you not just you personally) pass on the message with your own slant on it. Its human nature that as you are being told something you take it as you want to and you then pass it on in that way. What I want is for Ben to give everyone the opportunity to hear it from the horses mouth and not second hand chinese whispers style.

Unless of course it is all a very clever way of making everything sound better by ben and patrick carefully wording their answers intending for the few present to take it as ben is deliberately making it sound without actually saying it. Ogradys fee for example. Cleverly worded knowing the select few would take it to mean something it doesnt actually mean. Ben says how much money is freed up but you take it as a transfer fee and that gets repeated to everyone as we sold him for 50 million while ben sits back happily knowing he can say honestly that he never made that claim and its you few who got it wrong.

    Just a thought.

Im struggling to think of any reason why it makes more sense to tell a few people information and ask them to pass it on rather than just telling everyone directly other than attempting to play chinese whispers and hope the message gets distorted how you want it to.

And dont get me started on mexborough being considered too far from oakwell and needing its own meeting because its so far away and out of touch.bits about 20 minutes away

Supertyke.. I know have deemed yourself chief oakwell sniper, but how many open meetings has Ben Mansford had with supporters groups? How many have you been to? Ive a feeling that if he had a meeting in your front room and made your favourite tea, you'd be sat upstairs on the bbs, moaning that he shouldnt be having exclusive meetings with your french poodle.

You really need to get out and about once in a while

Ben never told me (and bossman) the exact fee for O'Grady. He said it was a lot more than the much quoted 500k, closer to a million pounds. The chat I had with Ben was arranged by him, not me. It took place in the location I'd have been in whether I was meeting him or not. So in essence, he went out of his way to talk to a random supporter. I think that deserves applauding. And for those who keep harping on about wanting to see him themselves, or for him to meet everybody rather than folk either putting themselves forward or plums like me, then email him. Tell him you want to meet him. It's that simple. Or, go along to the next event similar to last nights. I dunno.

Just seems a lot of fuss over nowt. Personally, I agreed to having a chat as I thought it'd be interesting and summat to share in the blog. No agendas. If he'd come across as a complete lovely person I'd have said so. If he'd come over as a bullshitter, I'd have said as much. Bossman can verify it, but everything I was told by Ben in a 40 minute chat over a pint went into the blog (with his agreement) exactly how he'd said it.

I know you didnt approach him and it sounds like your meeting was great but I have to ask WHY? Why did Ben think it was better to meet you and get you to write it up on your blog (as that was surely his hope and intention) rather than him writing something himself on that there official site of Barnsleys which all your readers have access to plus a lot more fans too. There has to be a reason surely?

ps I think Ben is a great person and a great asset to the club. I also think hes bloody brilliant at spin (another asset to be honest)
