I passed a spreading gritting lorry this morning very strange

    As I was heading out of Farnham this morning I passed a gritter lights flashing and spreading grit onto the road. This was at 8am the sun was shining and the temperature was already at 11c and is forecast to rise well into the teens

    can anyone give me a plausible explanation because it looks just like a waste of grit and money to me

    Normally use sand for fuel spills but that is more likely the reason

    Well it could have been sand though I thought it was grit. But it still seems strange it was driving along a long stretch of a dual carriageway unless there was a vehicle driving along leaking fuel
