That's not how it works. You slow down to stay onside and you lose the pace that should've got him through. Hourihane delayed it, he ran through and then was off.
He put us in front and hit the woodwork. If it wasn't for him we'd have not even got a point today. As for the chance you were on about Williams was shocking. Houriane was looking to pass to him for ages but Williams just didn't look interested. Much like two chances just before that where he passed on both instead of shooting. It's no wonder Conor was blowing a gasket at him.
What a strange thread. However, if all folk are criticising tonight is our best player by a distance, not releasing the ball once then that tells me we've had a good day at the office.
Except that it is only your opinion that he was our best player "by a distance" Cos he was not in my opinion. His perception when it came to passing, and his shot execution, were non-Redfearn. In fact he displayed a range of limitaations today that led me to conclude that he, Berry, and Bailey are on about the same level. Sound for this league
Me neither. I thought all round Hourihane was outstanding today. Got stuck in, covered plenty of ground, made some great passes and scored. He'll do for me.
I was referring to him being our best player by a distance. This season. Not today. Sorry for not making that clearer. But you're right, it was only my opinion. I posted it on a forum, in a thread, using my username. Not a clue why you've referred to Redders. Your posts tonight seem positive on the face of it, but they're made through gritted teeth.
I've just been scrolling down this thread waiting for someone to say this. It's Conor's main fault, that he gets his blinkers on, but then again, ot's also his strength!
Agree entirely, not slagging him, in fact these last few weeks I've not seen this selfish shoot from anywhere laiker at all. But to claim it was Williams fault for Hourihane not passing to him is nuts.
Bang on. Hourihane could have played Williams in first touch. In fact it has been a big problem for us, the last few matches, the poor finishing and poor choices in the final third of the pitch. Especially Cole. He really could have notched at least two today. Just like he could have had a hattrick on Tuesday. He has most definitely been one of the plus points of the season so far, but if he was a little more clinical he could have been knocking them in for a laugh.
Hourihane seemed to want him to cut in on goal for a shooting chance, whereas Williams stayed wide, I think he wanted to pass much earlier but Williams didn't get it,....have to say though fault is the wrong word..I think it would be better to say they just weren't quite on the same wavelength.....look like two good players, it'll come in time.
When Hourihane received the ball Williams was onside. Hourihane had seen him before he ran offside. Williams couldn't check his run because momentum would be lost.
