    Sorry.

I agree he has been our best player this season.

I like being positive. But only when it's merited.

My take on it was that Williams ran in front of Hourihane at the time he wanted to pass to him. He could have passed it to him straightaway but then the defender wouldn't have been taken out of the equation. All Williams had to do was run level with Hourihane instead of overtaking him, it was a 2 v 1 situation with no-one else in sight. I do think that Hourihane wanted to pass to Williams at the last second thereby taking out the last man but by the time that happened he'd spotted Williams too far in front so shot instead. Anyway it didn't cost us the game. If you want to look for a scapegoat after a performance like that, Cole missed two absolute sitters that were more clear cut than the breakaway.

Yeah at the game it looked like Aden Flint had headed one off the line from Cole. But seeing it back Cole didn't even hit the target and Flint didn't need to touch it.

    Spot on simon
If he'd released the ball when Williams was on side the defender wou!d have impeded his run on goal but by hourihane keeping the ball while the last minute the defender ends up in no man's land.it was that simp!e till Williams ran offside.

There was no need to run offside.speed wasn't the issue on this occasion the defender didn't know which player to challenge it was a two on one situation if Williams had held his run either the defender goes towards hourihane who then slips the ball to Williams unmarked or he goes to williams (unlikelly)leaving hourihane on his own he had a the whole line to look down.

However he is still learning the game and mistakes are acceptable besides of which there's no saying either would have scored if he hasn't run offside and either p!ayer had an attempt on goal, hence my rep!y to original poster that hourihane did not cost us that game.
Which is a **** post anyway

Finally some sense in this thread. The earlier Hourihane played the ball to Williams, the less advantage we would've had. I know Williams had momentum in his running but he's looking straight down the line, he should've checked his run better.
