I once filled up with it by mistake. No apparent effect whatsoever, apart from the obvious one on my wallet. I use my trip computer to record mpg, miles per tanks etc, and my driving pattern is always the same (tootling around town). When I needed to fill up all the numbers were exactly as they usually are. I would say it's a complete con but who knows if there are any long term beneficial effects?
Supposedly makes high performance cars perform better. I once read that it is also good to use on a normal car every now and again as it cleans your engine out or something. I'm not mechanically minded or anything so I don't know how true that is.
Even this day and age there is the perception the bottom of a tank is dirty and adding things like redex helps clean engines. Folk in the trade say petrol so refined these days it's just rubbish and a way to make you think you'll get more bhp or something.

It's higher octane, usually 98 or 97 rather than 95. Theoretically, an engine should produce more horsepower using higher octane fuel but depends on the engine and whether it has been designed with performance in mind in the first place. Definitely makes a difference in my MX-5 today but it certainly didn't in my 1.0 first car. Bear in mind this video is almost 10yrs old
Thanks all. So basically I'll get nowt extra for my cash in my Civic 1.6 iVtec Sport auto (not exactly a performance vehicle). It's all the bstards had though.
As Zemaj states its higher octane - also most of them have other cleaning additives in It depends on the car as to whether it makes any difference - in my old pug 406 it made no difference whatsoever but my last car I got around 5% more MPG out of the diesel equivalent which has higher Cetane so the cost difference worked out about the same.
Update: I put some in my lawn mower in Germany once and I have to say it cut the grass much quicker, with nicer stripes too.
If the word super makes no difference then we just aught to announce the team as reds instead of the super reds before the match. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Some engines are designed to run on it and won't run well on anything else. I have it in my 06 plate 1.6 Focus (100 bhp) and I have had a 2 mpg improvement both in town and on the motor way. The also car seems to start better. I only put it in as I had the 4p per litre off offer. I will give it another tank full and then make my mind up if it was worth it.
Right, now you lads seem to have resolved this, any thoughts on Spray Tans? Lass at my daughter's football training has made a right pigs ear of hers. Home spray? Cream? It's a minefield.
