It's daft is this debate. It's been done to death n all. Both Wednesday and United's last few visits to Oakwell have seen pathetic away followings. We are just a small town club, but we regularly take crowds to their stadiums which are very similar, and in some cases bigger in size. Occasionally they've sold out at Oakwell, but considering the way they go on and on about how big they are you'd expect them to sell out every time. As for 'only' taking 3,000, that is the allocation. It isn't going to be increased. We could have taken 10,000 to Bumhole Lane the last time we visited, such was the mood. But again, they gave us only a couple of thousand seats. I like it when we travel in numbers, but it doesn't make me erect or owt. Unlike deedars who seem to put it ahead of actually winning things. The ******* mongrels. However, I once heard this debate on radio deedar, a few years ago where facts were given. And when taking into account the population of each of the local clubs' cities/towns and comparing gates etc, it had Chesterfield and then us as the best supported local clubs. Doncaster were the worst. But facts like these are beyond the grasp of deedars. They have a city with many more people in it and think 20,000 is massive, and our little town with far less folk in it get 10,000 and we're tinpot. Thick basterds.
Ched Bundy with the dive. Clattenburg bought it. Loves a penalty (and Ed Sheeran) does Clattenburg. We hammered em that night n all. Lucky cnuts.
Who's bothered? Amazes me that people care so much about attendances. I can understand been bothered about home crowds as they bring revenue into the club but why do folk compare away followings? Just seems like a hobby for sad *******s to say 'we're better fans than you'.
We've been allocated 3,000, sold 2400 and will most likely sell the remaining 600 in the next couple of days. Can't see what else we're supposed to do tbh. I'm sure they'd sell more than that if it was the other way round at the moment with the run they're on, just as we could have sold our allocation 3 times over in 2011. But, we're languishing in lower mid-table in League 1 and will still likely sell our allocation for Saturday. And it'll still be more than they've brought to Oakwell the last couple of times.
If I remember right, Steele got a full hand on the first one, and the 2nd was just as blatant a dive as you'll ever see. There seems to be about a 10 minute delay between Hammills tackle and their lad going down.
We've also sold out that full end (top and bottom) twice (8000). Once in about 1991 for an FA Cup tie and the other time just before Christmas when we went top of league the season we went up to Prem. Also remember taking loads on a Tuesday night for a league cup tie in the 80s. We won 3:1. Think we had all the lower tier standing plus half of the old John St stand.
We've done well on ticket sales considering the likes of...... 1) Some not paid until friday to get a ticket. 2) Those who don't want to give an horrible club their cash. 3) Our poor league position. 4) How many times we've had to visit there over the years. 5) Etc etc etc.
Fritzl views about the crowd, wittiest football fans l've ever come across... http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.ph...-turnout-do-we-expect-against-barnsley.36633/
"I know one Barnsley fan who is bringing his wife ,sister and neighbour ,so that's 2 seats." Had a little chuckle at that tbh. Shitheads.
When they visit oakwell I would allocate 6,000 tickets and say that's yer lot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
