Barnsley’s 16-year-old right-back James Bree is attracting interest from Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton

Man City Spurs and Everton want to **** off. We've had our pants down once with a promising young defender of ours.

If he leaves, and I don't want him to, he should go to Everton. Best move careerwise imo

Seamus Coleman is 26 so he'd have no chance of getting in the first team for at least 5 years.

I don't think any can offer him first team football, although probably Spurs is the more likely.

so thats him gone in January then

hopefully we man up and demand a true value for him... then get a hardman/experienced full back to cover... we have got to accept that our academy is our "cash cow" I realise Patrick wanted to get to the point of a team of home grown... that will never ever happen for any team in the entire world of soccer... we have limited resource , we need to survive. We will always and have always been a sell on club. If anyone cannot deal with that then move to Chelsea....

He turned Man Utd down couple of years ago cause he said he wants first team football so he'd not go. If Dele Ali is worth 10mil then Bree shouldnt be far off that price

If/when he goes (not this season hopefully, but it won't be long) we have to get ridiculous money for him. If Southampton can get tens of millions for their young players then we should try to do the same. I know that's asking a lot but we have to start being taken seriously as a development of young players club. No more giveaways!!

Having got, let's say for arguments sake, £10 million I would like to see a chunk of that reinvested in the team and the other chunk(IF there is enough) invested in a new West Stand. Not a double decker like the East Stand, but a modest 4,000 seater but with an important addition. There MUST be changing rooms built into it so that we can go back to coming out on the half way line again. It's just all wrong coming on from the corner, especially at the away end.

This is all about the stitch up with academies. The wnakers at Premier League level want every single decent young player to put in their development squads. They have no intention of playing them, just to sign them so no one else can. When they sign them they rot away or go on loan all over the country. Those so called big clubs aren't producing their own players, just interested in gettin foreign so called world level players in.
    Love Barnsley Hate Football.

Ah right. Yeah, that IS embarrassing. To be honest I only thought he was 17 cos thats what the Club reported. I'm also pretty sure they said in commentary for the Bradford game, that he'd just had his 17th birthday. Ah well. Still 16 then? Blimey. He could be a bit good!

    How long is his contract?

Club reckon he is better than Stones so here's hoping for some real backbone this time

Why waste millions building a new 4k+ west stand when we already have a 4k+ west stand and 50% of home seats in our ground we can't fill? The only way we should rebuild the west stand would be if we started selling out home ends on a regular basis (so we'd need prem football) and then we'd have to make a new west stand more like the east stand anyway to boost capacity.

Great news. More interest the better. It means he's playing well & if several clubs are keen the fee will be bigger

There was something mentioned about it on here the other day. Someone on here knows the lads auntie and she says he's itching to buy a car. His 17th birthday is in December. A couple others confirmed it.

Could be an odd situation for Bree to be in.

Three massive Premier League clubs but won't be playing first team football until another few years with any of them.

I personally would stay at Barnsley as Premier League reserve team football (he'd do well to get in at that level to be fair with the amount of foreigners being brought in) is about the same standard as mid table League 1 without any passion what so ever. He might as well learn by playing first team with us a while longer and if we don't show signs of any improvement in coming years and end up being a ***** League 1 team where his development will be hampered, then move on.
