Walking usually quite quickly past Peel Square bogs I always cast a glance towards the missing Casa Disco and remember times when we had good local shops.
Casa Disco without a doubt... heres a couple more outlets SEXY REXY (Paul Rex) the LEVI LADS ( on the market.... when the market was truly a market) that toy shop up by Tarn Hall... was it Brittons ??? and the Famous Army Stores opposite woolies
I do the same with regards casa disco, I knew Steve and Ann, she use to get me and her Springsteen tickets.
Yoo beeyooty that's the very shop I was on about ... did they also have a branch on Donny Road near Joseph Pecks ?
Casa Disco, that computer shop round the corner from there which sold loads of Spectrum games. Is there still much of a second hand market on Tuesdays? What about pie and peas in the indoor market? Quality snap, though I remember once finding a used nappy under my table there, which was a little off putting. Not enough to make me abandon my lunch though.
best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were at Little bakery shop at the bottom of the Arcade down from Birds Tailors shop , you had to go upstairs... but the Pie and Peas in there will live forever in my memories... my Grandma Maud used to take me there on market days in the school hols.
EGS music Don Valley & Midwood for sports stuff Butterfields & Isaacs for boozing Green Room for gay massage
I used to have a Saturday job in Neals music shop in the Arcade in 1972. I was bought Focus 3 (by Focus) from there by my mum for my birthday. Still got it. This was at the time the Rolf Harris Stylophones were the most popular items on sale.
Butterfields for boozing I can remember Butterfields when it was a shop! They had those capsules for whizzing receipts to the centre of the earth.
Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were Microfun at Peel Street ! spectrum games ahoy Also on the subject of shops, CEX in Alhambra as some of the fittest birds ever serving there.
Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were What a call! So many journeys into tarn on the bus with a 40 min to load cassette for the return journey.
