Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were No it's come to me now George Ward...Bennetts was on Sheffield Rd.
That sounds right for Don Valley. It was on the corner of New Street and Baker Street, home if The Industry, later to become the Old Pavillion. I used to get my hair cut at a place called Mario's nearby.
I'm sure before Yates boozer opened it was like a prelude to today's pound land type shops selling tat. Used to have baskets full of cheap toys outside ont floor. An aladins cave for your average 7 year old. Toy guns, catapults etc. or was that next door?
Can't remember that but there was a very similar place at the bottom of Market Hill called Martin Raymond's. Just down from what was Currys.
Martin Raymonds was next to GT News at the bottom of Market Hill. I only remember because I think that was the last place I used a half-pence coin before they were phased out.
Aye you are right there it was the first place I ever went in and spent me own money. They used to gave a striped logo and striped bags Poundstretchers I think they were called.
Hat about the old alhambra cinema on peel street and the infamous Stables bar almost opposite. And the old Co-op stores where the bars are in town now???
Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were I've still got a Scene and Heard bag somewhere in my great lost record shops carrier bags collection - I know sad ******. Might have to dog out that All About Eve single as I haven't played it this century.
Certainly do. My Dad used to have a bathroom shop on Wellington street in the 80s and madges cafe and mortons chippy were the favourite treats of me and my brother when we went to "help" him. There was sweet shop bang opposite our shop as well. Banks?
Ha ha. We just used to go in and spend ages looking at football boots, trainers and trakkies and never spent a penny!
Microfun for the Speccy and then Amiga games, although must admit there were one or two market stalls where you could get them much cheaper, generally on a TDK tape or floppy disc with the name written on...infringing copyright isn't a massive issue when you're ten years old on a fixed income!
Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were Me an all, Commodore 64 tho, Emlyn Hughes soccer purchased and instructions read on 226 on't way home. 40 min cassette load and then the thing crashed! They were still open when Megadrives came out.
School uniform from fosters on Sheffield road and the telly from wigfalls a few door down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I think so yes. But I bet you can't get the Peru 1978 Subbuteo team while you are having you gnashers polished.
