I'm expecting to get hammered for this. But take his goals away, and his all round performances haven't been up to much for me. He just happens to keep notching. Bit weird
Don't worry Marc it's a feature of the board if you are right you get slated and you are right on the occasion. You will however from here on in known as the Hourihane hater
It's what will get him attention though. It's mental but 10 goals and 10 assists. For a barnsley midfielder. Before Christmas. I don't think I've ever been able to type that? Redders? Perhaps but don't think so. The bloke has an uncanny knack of scoring or setting up goals. I don't care if he's not up to much else. Let's employ others to do that and let him keep burning it up the other end!
I think the complete opposite to you, as I believe his all round game is terrific. However, I'm also a Happy Clapper who knows bugger all about football.
When he plays we play. It's as simple as that for me. I think he's been off the boil in the last month but he's still shored 4 and assisted more.
Now involved in 50% of all our league goals this season, with a wand of a left foot - good enough for mine and a more positive contribution than any midfielder of ours for a long time.
I'm not knocking him at all. How could I? I'm just finding it a bit weird, that someone who I just don't think is playing that well, has managed to notch 10 goals by November. From midfield.
Not bad by mid november that by our best midfielder since Craig Hignett. Should piss twenty of both if we can keep him here and fit until the end of the season.
Yes I agree if he hadnt scored 10 goals and made another 10 we wouldnt be raving about him but really! His alround game is decent but some of his passing and shooting is top drawer. Take away Ronnie Glavins goals and assists and near misses and we wouldnt be raving about him either
He's not been great in every game, but he's made an impact in most of them. Sign of a reight laiker. And, were we in the Championship I would be agreeing with Dreamy above suggesting he's the best since Hignett. But it's League One, and that makes a difference. I'd put him behind Howard and (obviously) Butterfield. If he can score and assist, run games from midfield against second tier opposition, fair play. I think he can, by the way.
Came home tonight to 2 Wednesday fans, debating why they didn't have a Hourihane, and if they should nab ours. I told them he was crap. They told me that all their players are crap, so they'd like our crap player who scores goals.
From what I've heard, we expect bids and expect to sell him. No problem with that. Just hope we get proper coin for his services. Berry will step up in that attacking role.
Seriously? Surely we would want 1.5 to 2m for him given Ben's rhetoric about putting players on long contracts and not having our pants pulled down again.. Not convinced too many clubs would part with that kind of cash for the lad this early in his development but we shall see.
