http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30018551 I wonder whether the Russian FA have really run out of money (quite possible), or they're just trying to drop a gentle hint. I remember commiserating with my Russian buddies when he first became their manager, but none of them actually believed me when I told them just how bad he was likely to be.
£7m for being ****, this is what is wrong with football. Two issues, one that Capello actually thinks he's worth that sort of money (as do many who steal a living in football) and two that clubs and national associations are so dense they keep giving out contracts like this. I don't know which is worse. I'll tell you what though for £7m I would expect miracles and I'd have clauses in his contract that if he didn't deliver miracles he would be paid what he was worth - I know what figure that would be if it was down to me.
True Bob, I certainly won't be worrying about him not being able to make ends meet. The soup kitchens won't be seeing him in the foreseeable future.
From what I can gather when the contract was drawn up the vast majority of his salary was going to be paid by sponsors rather than from the Russian FA's pot of money. Am guessing that the sponsors have now pulled out but the contract is with the Russian FA. It doesn't lessen the fact that the salary is an absolute joke, but it would explain the situation. I reckon that they realise they've been sold a dud and want to get shut.
