Sticking with Ritchie and Gudjon though. Can't think of a third. But I do believe Flicker deserved more time.
I could chuck Davey in there, not on the grounds that he shouldn't have gone, but it should have happened in the summer. Instead they gave him the whole budget to spend and then sacked him as the transfer window shut.
Good discussion Gudjon, Davey & Collins were my other 3. I was playing on a saturday in the Collins era, so missed 80% of the matches then. Ritchie got us back up, we were limited, I agree, but i'm not sure Davey was the replacement (despite historic cup run). Getting that way now that I only make 7-8 home & 3-4 away with the DJing, but at least player allows me to watch the games in full & listen, wherever I am.
IIRC we were lower mid table after a dismal 1-3 home defeat by Sunderland, and were seriously struggling to score goals. Hendrie had two atrocious slices of bad luck in the injuries to Watson and Hristov, but he hardly helped himself at times, freezing out Fjortoft and signing Don Goodman being two of his stranger moves. Plus the fiasco of the failed swap deal of Barnard and Carlton Palmer, and *****ing all that cash on Sheron . At the end of the day he had an awesomely good squad that season even without Redfearn, Hristov and Watson, and nade an absolute hash of things.
Yes, you're probably right. But Hourihane and Winnall would be playing as centre halves, and he would be currently attempting to convert Devante Cole into a full back, so as to utilise his pace.
Dave Bassett ,if you look at history when he left most of his other clubs they all went tits up (apart from Wimledon) Norman Hunter, took the club to new heights with Clarkies players, and a few of his own, time had come to change things and he wasn`t given time Allan Clarke, had nothing to work with and played fantastic football
Absolutely spot on about Hendrie. The single worst manager decision made by the BFC board in generations. With the team we had we could and should have gone back up.
Got to agree with you two about Hendrie. I suspect anyone dragged from the crowd could have probably done just as well. Destroyed the best team we have ever had with his inexperienced fumbling. Like a 14 year old French kissing while trying to get his hands down a girls pants. Terrible. I would gave sacked him about 5 games into the season/never appointed him in the first place.
Yea and he was great and I mean no disrespect to him but if jd appointed Hendrie to appease the fans Hendrie should have said he want someone lit e aurther cox tommentor them both I'm not a fan of the director of football role but in our case at that time it was needed
Hendrie wanted Winnie. Perhaps another type should have come in but in hindsight Hendrie was the wrong choice
