I have to admit it may be an age thing. I'm in my mid 50s and I really don't like tattoos. When I was young it was viewed somewhat with disdain on men (unless the man had been in the forces) on women it was really frowned upon. Different times as my kids remind me, which is fair enough and I'm getting to be an old foggie but when people in their 20s get inked up do they consider that the ink will still be there in 40 years time ? My two are in their 20s now but when they were at home in their teens and I still had a little control over what they did I was fine with piercings but not tats. I used to say 'you can take a ring out but you can't wash a tat off, they're for life' If I was younger I think I'd be investing in a tattoo removal business. Not for me I'm afraid but who made me the arbiter of good taste.
I'm the same mate. I think they look downright ugly on women. Went to a wedding and this woman had a great butterfly tattooed on her back. Spoilt the image in my opinion. Don't mind the odd artistic one on men but these full sleeve efforts make them look like they've never had a wash. Good job everyone's not like me and thee though otherwise the world would be a boring place and the tatooists would be on the dole. Definitely an age thing, there was a time when only sailors had tattoos.
I don't like them either, male or female, but I try not to judge people who do like them, it's their choice. The OP seemed to suggest that if you had tattoos you were a criminal. What a bizarre inference.
