    Not enough jobs and not enough poundage for those with jobs.

    Can I just say some of the top 1% of earners will also live in these poor areas. Phew.

    I have worked all over aeurope and that list is wide of the mark.

    My assumption is that they are taking GDP per capita for each region?

    Examples
    Tower Hamlets, Shadwell, Canning Town...all reative poor zones within London but adjacent to Canary Wharf and Royal Docklands, all hyped up rich zones (property wise).

    Brussels has tenament blocks that, to me, look poverty stricken.

    Darmstadt, masses of low cost social housing.

    I know a sh!thole when see one, much like I know an affluent place when I see one.

    So Norway isn't in Northern Europe. There are a few cities in Norway that would seriously kick ass against many of the top 10.

    its no coincidence that the majority of the poor areas are ex industrial heartlands that have had their guts ripped out to be replaced by poorly paid retail/distribution/service jobs.even the area on the french/belgium border is ex mining.

    These are quite large areas lol,

    Im sure there are some quite well off places within these so called poor areas.
