I posted on here before he left us that we needed to keep Chris O'Grady because his raw power would rip through League 1.

So its a massive massive disappointment that he has gone to our out and out rivals in this league

O'Grady to Sheffield United means that the chances of them getting promotion has greatly increased x10

OK..........we couldn't have kept him while he was here because his wage demands were so high.........BUT....when we knew he wasn't cutting it at Brighton we should have been straight back in for him.

    Is O'Grady better than Trotta..........YES
Is O'Grady more loyal than Trotta and likely to stay with the club for a longer period..........YES

So all in all its another really sad day for us.............(to add to all the other sad days.....and weeks.....and months......and years)

And for those trying to put a brave face on this latest transfer news.................there int one !!!

Bitch please, I wouldnt have had him back if Brighton had released him and paid his wages for 3 years. Take away the penalties and exactly how many goals did he score? Ok he's a strong lad and can hold the ball up superbly well but thats about the beginning and end of his game, we've much better strikers at the club now and how is he more loyal???

Two things to say about his ability in the team...........

Firstly............he is a very strong player that can hold the ball up and bring the more positive attacking midfield and strike force into the game compared to the players he was playing with last season i.e. players such as Winnall would get more goals with a player like O'Grady in the team.

Secondly.........O'Grady is likely to score more goals this season because the service into the strikers has improved compared to last season

With regard to him being loyal.........I think he was settled in this area and didn't really want to leave
Trotta is saying he is going back to Italy and he hasn't even had a full 90 minute game yet

Raw power and was fantastic for us... Gutted when he left but would swap for what we have now. If you like long ball and hoping up play by corner flag he's ya man. Almost felt like we had a one man team last year, but we set team up to play cog's way...

Will cog score as many goals as winnall no... strength but lacked pace and finish...
Id rather have Trotta... not seen enough of Trotta to say who is best, but he comes with reputation and L1 experience. considering he is Italian youth international and player in demand I guess he's highly rated and would suggest he may be real deal. Playing top flight, not L1 in 2-3 years.

Worst left winger we have ever had at the club, his heart was never here, we had othes who could also score penalties, and we know what kind of club he has gone to, which speaks volumes about him, desperate for money at Brighton, now desperate just for a game. We dont need him.

massive over reaction there Nudger, I think before his loan spell is over they will be moaning about him, as has been said without the penalties he's hardly prolific, not particularly quick. Might be wrong how little impact he will have but now extremely average IMHO

Why not just crack on with what we have and let dem Blunts worry about themselves?

Your argument is completely flawed. How you can comment on Trotta not being as good as COG at this stage is beyond belief. And as far as loyalty goes, this a man who turned down Charlton because he was settled up here then jumped ship to Brighton. Just about as much Loyalty as Fat Frank signing for one of his former teams main rivals!

Unless he's playing under his mates I.E Flicker and/or Hill, he won't be any good.
He will never play like he did in our great escape season again.

Enjoyed that, we don't talk to each other as if we're transexuals from Brooklyn often enough.

Not to knock what he did for us, he worked his knackers off every week. But I hope he fails in everything he does now he's signed for that horrible club.

Could be right Nudger, but Wilson knew he was available. So was the wages a problem or was it he did not think COGs style is not the way he wants us to play. Even taking Trotta off the bill he is only here a short while, where as COG would be on a contract.

He wasn't demanding anything because he was out of contract. Some on here reckon Lita is on around the same money as COG was, but if that was the case i'm sure we'd have kept COG rather than bring in Lita.

COG has no loyalty to anybody, as shown by the number of local rivals he's played for. He's a journeyman football player who's already played for way too many clubs for a guy in his 20s. He doesn't get attached to the clubs he plays for. He isn't a Bobby Hassell type. He sees whoever he plays for as just a job.

Were you pissed when writing this?

'Heart was never in it'. He grafted as much as anyone I can remember seeing for us. One thing that can never be doubted about O'Grady is his heart.

'Desperate for money at Brighton' - Do you realise that he was practically told he had to leave because we couldn't build a squad whilst paying his wage? As soon as he left the club brought in a raft of signings. We wanted him gone more than he wanted to go, that's irrefutable.

As for the left winger comment. If you were a striker for a team as bad as ours last season I'm pretty sure you'd have dropped deep / wide for the ball. Our midfield was dreadful & provided next to no service.

    I think that's a bit harsh.

You've got to realise he's got a Mrs & kids who are settled in South Yorkshire. I don't think prioritising your Mrs & kids over some football fans opinions makes you disloyal. If he was single with no family then I doubt he'd be so keen on South Yorkshire.

And you've got to consider that both Sheffield Wednesday & Barnsley wanted rid of O'Grady. If we'd have been desperate for him to stay then it changes things but we showed no loyalty to him so why should we expect it back?

    record of

    o grady 40 games 15 goals

    winnall 21 games 9 goals
    hourihane 20 games 10 goals
    cole 18 games 6 goals

above 3 includes cup games too

o grady more or less got those 15 goals on his own, the present team as 3 strong strikers and the record says it all 25 goals so I know which players I would have, O Grady can go to sheff utd doesnt mean nothing, we will finish above them this season

I like O'Grady. Thought he played excellently for us. Don't agree he only scores penalties. I thought last season he was the only player to consistently perform. And let's be reight, he didn't ask to leave, we were desperate to sell him. I don't like Sheff Utd, but I don't hold it against O'Grady for signing for them. He's a footballer earning a living, he can sign for whoever he wants. I'm not going to wish him well like because I don't want Sheff Utd to do well, but I'd be happy if he scored 2 goals every game and Sheff Utd lost 3-2.

Having said all that, I'm perfectly happy with the strikers we've got. O'Grady was a good striker, we sold him and brought in other good strikers and I support those. If, in the future, we sign O'Grady again I'd be happy to see him back, but I'm not desperate for us to sign him because I think we've already got good forwards at this club.

Said before we sold him we needed him off the books. You can't fault his workrate but he was too slow to keep us up, and I said that Brighton would discover that. United will discover he's too slow to get them promotion - but they are desperate to give their fans something to celebrate now the Ched Evans gamble has fallen through. He won't have got any faster since he left us. I agree with WMT, I'd sooner have Winnall at this stage of their respective careers.

He's only there until January at the moment isn't he? His contribution to them may end up being sweet **** all.

    Better than Trotta? Barmy.

Here we go with the abuse...........(i.e. lost the debate)

Trotta is a player that has not established himself yet at any club including 1st Division clubs

O'Grady is an established Championship player

Will we be able to get Trotta on a longer term deal.........NO..........he is already talking about going back to Italy after Christmas

Will we be able to get O'Grady on a longer term deal.......YES.........because he was reluctant to move in the first place because his family was settled in the area. He only moved to Brighton because Brighton offered silly wages
