Aye, we had three home games ont trot after a defeat at Grimsby. Unfortunately, we only got a draw against Oldham in our penultimate fixture, Taggart's last goal wasn't it? Fleming's last game? Not sure.

Shame, as we'd got a point against Boro who won the title, and we then beat the Blunts 2-1 when Brendan was my idol. I saw us beating both Oldham and Southend and sneaking 5th. But it wasn't to be and Tranmere and Wolves ended four points above us.

We only lost 2 games at a reduced capacity Oakwell that season, won 15, with a +23 goal difference. Awesome we were that season at home. Only replicated since under Bassett I suppose where we regularly outscored teams for fun.

    Ah, the memories...

We beat Grimsby 4-1 on Boxing Day and went third in the table.

Malcom Shotton scored from about 50 yards when we beat Sunderland at home 2-0. It was a really Windy day and folk were leaving the East Stand Upper Tier thinking it was going to blow down. Shotton had retired from the game, he was hear as a coach, but he had to play due to injuries. He launched the ball it caught the wind and flew in the back of the net.

Away at Middlesbrough the pitch was frozen solid. Our lads wore white pumps. At half time the ref decided to call it off. Wilson gave the ref bad marks. Away at Wolves it was the same ref and he gave Wolves a penalty when it hit the back of one of our players. Ref had already told Wilson he was giving us nowt today after the marks Wilson had given after 'boro. Wilson questioned the refs decision for the penalty so the ref sent him off. Watson saved it, Bullock got hold of the ball, ran the full length of the pitch beating every Wolves player but their keeper saved the shot.

Sheriden and Bullock were introduced to the side. Sheriden as a left wing back.

When we played Villa at home in the third round of the cup Adie Moses made his debut and had to mark Fashanu who elbowed him for 90 minutes.

Unlike what Whitey said earlier, we didn't have a dodgey end to the season we only lost 3 of our last 17 games.

    Ring any bells?

We finished 6th with many gates under 4000. Towards end we maxed out at 11000 which was all we had.

94/95 was a really enjoyable season. All the Andys up front and sadly Gerald's last season.

Last one. Away at Grimsby that Whitey referred to, a Grimsby fan got hold of the corner flag and launched it like a spear in to the Barnsley end. THE most moronic thing I've ever seen at a football game and I've seen that tackle by Mido.

I have a treasured (home and) away shirt.

It was really Fleming's last season as he messed up knee early in 95/96.

Fleming/Taggart (and Deehan) best double signing. Stan and Rajci did what we wanted but has there been a better double swoop??

Was at that aswell! One of most packed away ends I've been in when standing!

It's the whole prem league, 4 relegated, only 5 in playoffs etc. just no recollection on that whole scenario?!? Wierd!

It wasn't a double swoop for Taggart & Fleming. Taggart was signed at the beginning of January & Fleming signed on transfer deadline day in March.

My memory tells me it was. Probably influenced by the Grimsby, Oldham and Southend games. There was a period where we looked good for automatic we were that good. At home especially. But aye, it wasn't to be.

Wasn't that the season where Millwall were top and coasting for weeks and plummeted to relegation?

Regards the Sunderland game you mentioned, I always remember it for two things - me dad clipping me round the ear for getting up with the others who were saying the stand was about to blow over (sit darn yer daft get). And Dominic Matteo playing for them illegally.

Weird what you do, and don't remember.

That happened to Millwall the following season.

After deciding to read this entire thread before replying (in agreement) to your message, I almost forgot to respond. Point proven.

I'm exactly the same. When we get into the second half of the season, I don't ever recall the first time we played the opposition earlier that same season.

When Neil Redfearn scored that goal away at Newcastle, I was driving up the A1 at 90 mph. Backwards. There were three lads in the back, rear tyre blew out and that weight in the back lifted the front wheel off the ground and spun the car round. That was pretty intense.

After THEY had scored!!! Mental. I've recalled that game on here many times. We got chased after the match. "We" being my dad (a 42 year old school teacher), me (a 17 year old speccy geek) and my brother who was 13. Always gave Grimsby away a miss after that.

I think my first-ever away game was that one at Grimsby.

Conceded an early goal, and then my 15-year-old biased self was convinced we utterly battered them, only to lose 1-0.

It was the same day David Busst suffered that terrible leg injury. Easter time?
