Only good thing about the game was Chester's support. Well done guys.

It'd be easy to say we should have lost, but actually that's not true, because Chester didn't play well either. I would imagine, given how bad we were, the Chester fans were actually disappointed with their performance, even though they had a a few chances, because they probably passed the ball worse than we did. I reckon they will have performed much better this season. If they had turned up, they would have won.

What's wrong? Everything at the moment. From being a team who were so comfortable on the ball just a few weeks ago, we now can't string two passes together. Hourihane, who would take a pot shot from anywhere within 40 yards not so long ago, and test the 'keeper or score more often than not, now won't shoot on the edge of the opposition's box. Trotta has yet to find a Barnsley shirt with a forward pass since he's been here. Brown could well be the worst player I've seen in a reds shirt. Abbot showed exactly why Wilson hasn't been selecting him. Hemmings - I don't know what he offers.

I was sat in the legends suite and when the Tannoy announcer began his MOTM spiel, I was thinking, "Anyone but Nyatanga, please, anyone but Nyatanga." Because the motm has to come up to the legends suite and give a speech so I knew I'd be able to have a word. Unfortunately it was Nyatanga, who for my money hadn't put a foot wrong. I did have a word, I congratulated him on a very good performance, but i really wanted to have a barney.

Other than Nyatanga, Cranie and Turnbull didn't really do much wrong and Jennings offered something when he came on, but apart from that...

We miss Williams. And Winnall. And although the majority won't agree, Bailey too. But there's no way we should be that bad with just a few players out.

Wilson out then? Of course not. We were crap. Being crap doesn't mean you sack your manager.

Bailey wouldn't have made any difference. Not even sure Winnall would at the moment with the appalling lack of service.

That team today should have steam rollered Chester. Absolute respect to Chester, but they really weren't very good either. They didn't turn up and have the game of their lives, at all. You could just see them gradually realise with every mistimed pass, just how bad we were.

Agree with every point raised in your post, Jay and have said very similar in my rants since full time. Agree with them all, except that last one.

The last player we missed today was Bailey.

    But opinions are only that.

Nyatanga was my MOTM, although as you say, Turnbull was great when called upon and Jennings gave us a brief reminder of what he can do.

    Good summary

Why didn't Cranie stay at full back with Brown in the centre? Their little winger didn't get much joy against Cranie but ran riot against Brown.

Brown - worst player I've ever seen for Barnsley? Possibly, I'm struggling to think of a worse one.

    Re: Good summary

Dunno. We should have done that. Or bring on Holgate who performed really well in his debut the previous game.

I guess Wilson sees something in Brown, thinks he's low on confidence and thought he'd try to give the lad some back by pitting him against players of lower quality than those in League 1. Players he should have been able to contend with relatively easily. It backfired, Brown looked worse than ever and i would think his confidence is now smashed to pieces. If he gets the run-around from a conference side, what chance has he got? Doubt we'll see him for while unless injuries mean he has to play, but even then I think it'll be the young kids who get the nod. He's been dropped from the squad before, I think it'll be happening again.

    Agree with that

A midfield without Bailey = "quick, get rid of the ball"

Agreed, I also think Bree should be playing instead of Dudgeon. Although he did do much better once Jennings came on.

I think Bree is injured at the moment. I could be wrong on that, but against Donny we only had 6 subs. If Bree were fit I'm sure he'd be at least on the bench.

    Re: Good summary

Depends how far back you go and your definition of worst - I'd rather have Brown in the side than Kevin Donovan - though its close Donovan probably had more talent but at least Brown tries -he just isnt very good. One thing is for sure when you start thinking Tom Kennedy was a better full back you know Brown shouldnt be playing.

    Re: Agree with that

It didn't help that Berry and Hourihane are miles off form compared to how they were playing a few weeks ago. Both look better with Bailey behind them and Williams in front, or Jennings if he can start to play like he was doing last season and, in glimpses, yesterday. He looked leaner to me which has to be good news.

People are talking about improvement and expecting it to look like this:

    <img src="http://www-users.york.ac.uk/~mb55/msc/maths/graph036.gif">

Which is just ******* bonkers. In the real world you get summat like this and we're on a downward slope at the moment.

    Re: Good summary

I agree about Chester missing their opportunity. I said as much at the game, that they will be kicking themselves because if they'd played a bit better they'd have comfortably beaten us. Similarly, if we'd played the entire second half like we played the last five minutes or so we'd have won comfortably. Should be having more than a five minute spell of playing well though.

I'm in the fortunate position of never having had to do a spreadsheet in my entire life. I intend to keep it that way.

    Re: Agree with that

Yep the whole team including Danny have no confidence at the moment. Keep saying this but I am happy with the vast majority of the squad. For me the formation is wrong and Danny quickly needs to sort out a formation to suit his underperforming squad.
Agree with u Jay about all comments.
We need Williams back big styke
