Just feel the need to vent at someone so this will have to do

Last Tuesday I bought a birthday present for someone online from SportsDirect( yes I know they arent great either) and payed the extra for next day delivery. I got the tracking number and could see that Yodel collected it on Tuesday and delivered it to the local centre early on Wednesday Morning.
Website said that it would be delivered on Wednesday - it never got transferred to the courier

On Thursday the Website just said delayed - there is no contact email or online chat just an 0844 5p a minute phone line so I phoned and eventually reached an agent who told me that my parcel had been transferred to the courier that morning - bare faced lie to get me off the phone
as at 5pm Website still said delayed I tried again but after holding for over 10mins (50p) line cut me off

Friday I called again and got someone who promised to notify the local office to give me a call but I wouldnt be called until Saturday = as I needed the present for Saturday that was no good so I bought a replacement from a shop SportsDirect helpfully(!) told me to reject delivery so the package would be returned and I would be refunded

there is no way to do this in advance that I can see - though I assumed when called on Saturday I could explain and get them to return the package - I wasnt called of course

This afternoon a white van turned up at our offices the driver couldnt figure out how doors worked so knocked on the window. Its a really tricky door with a handle and a doorbell and a big sign and was in fact already open, so I can see how he found it difficult

I tried to explain I didnt want the package but he didn't speak a word of English and he seemed unable to understand - now I am no UKIP supporter and have no problem with none British drivers but I would have thought a basic grasp of the language was fairly essential for a job where you have to speak to members of the public....

Anyway he has taken back the package but he clearly didnt know what to do with it - confidence level that it will be returned to SportsDirect is very low

Complaint submitted via their feedback form but not holding out any hope of any sensible reply

As an aside it was a parcel that needs a signature - Yodels delivery window is 7am to 9pm with no indication as to what time the package will be delivered. Thats a hell of a long time to stay in on the offchance a driver will turn up

No is the simple answer to your question. I've lost track (!) of the number of parcels that have supposedly been delivered to me by them. They're adamant they're going to the right address, even when they say stuff like 'we left it in your greenhouse'. Tiny problem there, Yodel - we don't have a greenhouse. They're either just at the wrong address, or there's some Yodel driver somewhere kitting out his house with various stuff that belongs to me. Like you say, their CS is possibly the worst out there. I repeatedly asked for the driver's name and phone number, so that I could actually check where he thinks he was, but they won't do that. Lost two mobile phones, new hairdryer for Mrs Finn, umpteen CDs & blurays amongst other things - quite why so many 'big' retailers use them as their main courier just beggars belief.

Tip here Farnham, over the last few weeks I have had a go at Asda, Sainsburys and Royal Mail on Twitter. In each case I got a swift response and to be fair all but Sainsburys were helpful.

Just checked and they on Twitter responding to complaints. :)

Quick poll round the office and your and mine experiences seem to be the norm. Everyone who has had the misfortune to have packages delivered by them have similar stories tales of lost packages damaged packages, parcels signed for when there was no one in - Cases of wine delivered with half the bottles broken delivered to the wrong address etc etc - they make Parcel force look amazingly good.

Just 1 question though, why didn't you go to the store in the first place to buy it?

The hub most courier firms use is parcel farces anyway...

Citylink beat yodel ... Only just minds. Ice yet to have yodel leave a parcel in the hallway of a shared apartment block to get raided by the neighbours claiming my missus had signed for it...

They never gave us a copy of the drivers description as it would be completely wrong... And they knew it. Thankfully the company she ordered off sent a Foc replacement.

They are the worst. Nothing but problems with them, everything from the parcel being delivered to the wrong street, the parcel being smashed to bits and the parcel being left in the bin on bin day. They are abysmal.

Yodel are absolutely terrible. Though I've used Hermes a lot and they are nearly as bad. In Sheffield they seem to be one geriatric old bloke (who told me he had number dyslexia) and his missis.

Thats a question I have been asking myself

Its what I did in the end - just means wasting a lunch break driving into Basingstoke, parking, hoping they had it in the shop etc. when what I foolishly thought was 5 mins online, click and it would appear the next day - cost of next day delivery not a lot more than it would have cost me to drive and park etc. Or so I thought....

Never buying online from Sportsdirect again unless they change courier though and will tell them so

True - we had a parcel delivered by them a couple of Saturdays ago - it was a pair of ski blades so a decent sized box they emailed us to say they left in hidden in the porch. We were away for the weekend but when we got back on Sunday night there was the parcel propped up against the front door in full view of the street - you cant hide it in the porch as its basically a step with a roof so you dont get wet opening the front door. Amazed it was still there

I completely detest Yodel, had plenty of bad experiences with them. The parcel delivery that got me the most angry though was from BHS. I'd ordered a second wedding dress for our first dance (a much simpler dress) and it was left outside behind our garage in the pouring down rain. It took us days to find it (all we had was a message saying delivered on the tracking service (no note in mail box) but we didn't know where it had been delivered). By the time we found it the packaging had worn away from the bad weather and there were woodlice all crawling around in the soaking cardboard. Luckily the dress itself was in a plastic bag so it was fine but I was absolutely fuming!!

The problem with Yodel, as I understand it is their employment terms. Their drivers get paid for the drop, so if they turn up and cant drop they dont get paid for it. Quite how they can get away with that I have no idea but it explains why their drivers will leave them in the bin or out in the rain or whatever. If everyone was out during the day and they couldnt complete any drops they would earn **** all.

I have seen their drivers pull up our street and literally run up the path they are in such a rush. It must be hell working like that every day.

I've stopped buying from companies who I know use them (principally ebuyer, which is a shame as they have good stuff), I tend to go to Amazon now and have stuff delivered to the lockers at coop.
