if any of you get the chance to see it go...I promise you you will not be disappointed... its bloody awesome. The music is wonderful and the SFX are breath taking.
Always been fascinated by the story and recently read it again having first read it decades ago. Loved the music when Jeff Wayne produced it with Justin Hayward singing. Not seen this musical yet but I really ought to make the effort.
this the Final arena tour Matey... get ya skates on trust me its worth it , My tickets cost me £110 for 2.. sound steep, but wow. the show is almost 3 hours... so compare it to a football match and that's cheap . There are about 9 shows left in UK.. at Bournemouth, London and Brighton. I would go again if it was nearer... fabulous. I just hope he is not serious about it being the final arena tour, but the guy will be 72 next july... he will be minted too, so could not blame him if he did retire.... just hope he might give the go ahead for another conductor to carry it on... his children are a part of it so the family could easily be in control... this is a modern classic. I reckon he will do a 40th anniversary in 2018, if he is still fit and well. I will attend at all costs if I am fit and well too.
Re: this the Final arena tour Matey... get ya skates on Do you really believe all that crap? UFOs, aliens, abductions? I mean, the chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, I'd guess.
i grew up reading h.g wells, and i'd read the book before i heard the album. i used to sprint through wombwell woods as a kid, thinking a fighting machine would pick me up and smash me against a tree! never got round to watching it though, as i always thought the tickets were a bit steep.
Saw it at Sheffield Arena a couple of weeks back, absolutely awesome. Thought Brian MacFadden had a superb voice when singing "Forever Autumn" and a nice touch with the Autumn leaves falling from the ceiling. It's been advertised as the last tour so doubt he'll do it again. Having said that, there could well be a re-union tour in a few years time.
guessing he will do a 40th anniversary tour in 2018 and that will pehaps be his last... but surely it can continue.. Like the "Rocky Horror" "Sound of Music" "Les Miserables"... etc its too much of a modern day classic for it to disappear totally.
Re: guessing he will do a 40th anniversary tour in 2018 Totally agree. I've seen loads of West End shows but none of them compare to this. I dragged our lass there under sufferance because she thought it would be a bit sci-fi for her but she was blown away by it and has been recommending it to her mates. No doubt it helped that we were sat 4 rows back from the stage and within touching distance of Shane Ward, Jason Donovan and Bryan MacFadden
