The disabled guy is right, if Brand feels so strongly, stand for election. But he won't.

Surprised that she hasn't been kicked out to be honest. What she says (one one of things she said anyway, I didn't catch some of it) was right, but in the wrong way in which to do it.

There talking about the NHS now. When this labour womans finished, I'm going to bed. I will scream when someone mentions privatisation, and this is when the remote goes through the telly.

    Night all.

From the bits i saw brand was all sound bites and petty attacks that lacked any real substance.

Funny watching him squirm when he got told to stand.

I get the impression brand is interested more in keeping his face in the press to prolong his marketability than any actual politics.

And the truth shall set you free! He's a ridiculous figure, the only surprise being the number of wallies (naturally including the BBC) who are eager to lap up his b*llshit and treat him like some sort of guru, rather than see him for what he is. He's an example of how infantile the political debate has become in this country.

I didn't watch it (and I'm not a Brand fan), but that critiicism is fundamentally flawed.

The political system in this country is rigged to support the established parties and, what's worse, the status quo. Not even UKIP (with their 'massive support') could manage to get an MP without bringing in establishment figures from the conservatives. If Russell Brand stood for parliament, 99% of the country wouldn't even get the option to vote for him. Whether Brand did or didn't win a seat would be nothing to do with the amount of support there is in the country for what he's saying. The way to become an MP today isn't to come forward with new and inspirational ideas; it's to do the right degree in the right place, do unpaid work experience in the party of your choice and work your way up. A career (and one only available to the well-off), rather than a deep desire to change things.

Parliament is not the correct establishment to argue against international capital or the economic system. It's a process which has been engineered to defend those things, and it's pointless to try and fight them from within it. The logical conclusion of your argument is that the 650-odd MPs that sit in parliament are the people in the country that feel most strongly about politics, which is evident nonsense. Do election turnouts and voting figures support the idea that they have the backing of the majority of the country? Of course not, but they're still there. That indicates that the game is rigged.

    Nonsense. As was DEETEE's post.

I've said it countless times, it matters not who he is or whether he's this or that. It's the issues he's speaking about and getting across to people that I appreciate. And whether he lacked substance or was full of ********, he raised the most pertinent points last night, but wasn't helped (obviously) by Dimbleby, the BBC political puppet.

More annoying for me last night was seeing Farage get such an easy ride from Dimbleby and co. I expected him to get the Nick Griffin treatment. But then, the BBC are in love with UKIP it seems.

But do the BBC love UKIP as much as you love Russell?

I don't love him. I just happen to agree with what he sees as the main issues in this country, and I feel it's good to see someone with such a fanbase getting the message across.

I know for a fact that immigration isn't the issue that some will have you believe.

Britain, a nation built by immigrants. An immigrant nation since day one.

Recent immigrants have made a net contribution of £25bn to the UK over the last ten years. #bbcqt
