Does a Chief execs vote of confidence carry as much weight as the Chairmans vote of confidence? When Maurice comes out and says Danny is safe thats when some of the more voicifierous posters on here can put the champers in the fridge
Of course he is safe, because like many on here Patrick and Ben know that what we need more than anything else is stability.
If you include his Chester programme notes mentioning recent unacceptable performances and saying Danny knows it then it's twice in six days Mansford has made his feelings known in the press. Nobody could blame Cryne if he got rid of a manager as he's lost millions through relegation as it is. A couple of six figure signings but still heavily reliant on loans. We've a tough xmas period too with high flying sides Preston and Oldham. If we win our four remaining matches this year we probably still won't be in the play offs we are that far behind. The other week it was mentioned Leyton Orient would be his 1,000th game and the article still says so but surely it's now Chester.
I'd love to be able to do some analysis on each of those managers, and assess how many of the sackings were backed by fans at the time. Generally speaking, my observation is that most, if not all of those, were largely backed - and even demanded - by fans at that time. I get that people are saying enough is enough and we need to stand by this one...the cynic in me just wonders how much of this is down the Danny effect.
Going on fans at games, letters to Chron etc, not just the bi-polar screams of the internet at times. Paul Hart - maybe. Andy Ritchie - not much call. Simon Davey - all agreed. Mark Robins - nil Keith Hill - not that much. Flitcroft - a bit Mellon - not much Wilson - nil.
I think that is all the more reason why he will give Danny more time than he has allowed managers in the past. Lessons learned.
