    Saw this picture the other day of wartime elephants on the streets of Sheffield. My great gran told me a story about going to see them when I was really little and I'd never believed her.

    They used to be used in the Railway Stockyards, and a firm used them too TW. Ward ( both down the Wicker)....they had an elephant in the company logo if I remember rightly.

    what your great gran went to see Elephants when you were little but didnt take you - thats a bit mean. You also are older than I thought as it was was in WW1

    did a quick google and I think it was actually one Elephant called Lizzie

    The last time I was in Sheffield I saw loads of pigs but no elephants. Isn't strange how times change.

    Yes Whale and Lion both true...saw them myself, the Lion used to live in a scrapyard in Monk Bretton just opposite Redfearns.
