Interviewer: The team aren't doing very well, they're down near the bottom of the table and losing more than they're winning. What would you do to remedy the situation? Football Fan: Sack the manager. I: You were on a good run, but the last few results haven't been what was expected and the team have slipped a couple of places in the table, what would you do to get them back on track? FF: Sack the manager. I: It's been an average season, a midtable finish, never in danger of relegation, but not really challenging for promotion either. What can the club do in the closed season to move the team further up the table next season? FF: Sack the manager. I: Great season for the lads, just missing out on promotion with that play-off defeat, how do they make that step-up to guarantee promotion next season? FF: Sack the manager. I: Second in the league at Christmas and a consistent set of results all season, even if the football hasn't been exciting every week. What can the board do during the transfer window to add that bit of pizzazz to the team? FF: Sack the manager. I: So, a ten game unbeaten run comes to an end after a closely fought 1-0 defeat away to the league leaders. What needs to happen before next weekend to get back to winning ways? FF: Sack the manager. I: Game called off today, not a lot you can do when 5 foot of snow comes down over night. Any thoughts? FF: Sack the manager.
Fans paying hard-earned money to see their team perform poorly in League 1 after 8 seasons of dross in the division above in calling for the manager's head shocker. Not that I was among those shouting "Wilson out" at Warsaw Saturday, but I don't blame those who did.
It's all about opinions I don't mind losing games of football but the way we have been losing hurts me No more fight than we had last season and that worries me We have supposed to have got rid of the rubbish in the summer ??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't want Wilson sacked, but you can't ignore the fact that we are dogger at the minute. And I mean proper dogger. I'm struggling to think of 3 consecutive home performances worse than Scunny, Donny and Chester. I'm not saying things are as bad as Conan might make out, but I'm not going to pretend I'm content with how things are going either.
Precisely this for me too. Just not a fan of thinly-veiled swipes at fans (particularly those at Walsall) who vented their frustrations after another pathetic performance. I was in the away end when the calls for Wilson to go started, didn't join in but had no beef with those that did after what was on show. Edit: and this I've attended every game since beating United away and there's been, Burton game aside, very little urgency or effort for long stretches in these games. Exactly the same as last season and it's obviously wearing thin for many.
I want Wilson gone But like you say people will have all different views Port vale , scunny , donny , Walsall were no better than any games last season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was, another awful performance from Legia. Not sure why their fans were chanting "Wilson out" though
It's not thinly veiled mate, I couldn't have made it more obvious if I tried. It's a charge of the light brigade style head-on attack. I think calls for the manager's head every few months are pathetic and misguided and the primary reason we're in the mess we're in, as the board bow to supporter pressure. It ruins this BBS, which used to be a place to have a laugh, but is now seen as an arena to vent your spleen, and it's ruing the club I love as we sink deeper and deeper in to the mire continuing down the same failing path. Sacking the manager is not the only solution to a problem, but it's the only one that a good proportion of people who use this forum to make a noise seem to understand. I don't care if you like that opinion or you don't. Wasn't particularly aimed at people at Walsall though, more those that post on here.
Totally agree I feel the worse for us and Wilson Teams at bottom are picking up wins and where not . Lose Saturday and we could find ourselves in the relegation places Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
But isn't that the point, it's always the same people calling for the manager's head. And ultimately the club have frequently listened to those calls and it has led to absolutely zero progress. Yet the same people propose the same soltuion the very next time we go on a bad run.
I totally agree with the bolded bit, and I agree it gets tiresome. But when things are bad with no sign of improvement, it seems the only logical way to go for many, and I can fully understand why there are calls for Wilson to go. I would personally like to see where we end up if Danny is given the entire season (which I think he will, unless we're bottom 4 come February), but I'm not going to condemn those calling for change after the last 8 or 9 years of dross. And yes, I understand that in that time we've sacked many managers, all to no avail bar perhaps when Robins came in for Davey. The main thing I want to see is an improvement in effort and commitment on the pitch. Whose fault is it that the team under Wilson (and indeed under Flicker last year and Hill the year before) has looked devoid of both of these most of this season? Is it the players themselves, or is it the manager failing to motivate a team he's built with his own two hands? Both are as much to blame in my opinion, and both need to address this. But for many the buck stops with Wilson, hence the calls for him to go. Something which again, I don't necessarily agree with, but can understand and won't condemn anyone for.
Vast majority on here haven't called for the manager to be sacked. It's a very small minority, and the majority of that minority never wanted the manager in the first place. I could do a poll, and I guarantee it's a massive pro-Danny victory.
Last three away games I attended (Rochdale, Blunts and Chesterfield) the vast majority were singing Danny Wilson songs, positive ones. Have a think about that.
