    Could it be much plainer?

We haven't a defender worthy of the name. This lot have failed at Championship level and are failing at League One level. They are naive under pressure, don't work together and lack any physical presence to boss the opposition forwards. They all need trading in so that we can ditch the losing mentality. One holding defensive midfielder would also be good, but sealing the leaky bucket would be the first priority. Sort that, and our other midfielders/strikers have some promise and can get us some results.

Danny and his staff have bags of experience - can they not see this? If they can, why can't they do something about it?

That is a very good question and because Wilson hasn't addressed this fundamental issue we are plummeting like a stone hence the reason his head is on the chopping block!

Bree was doing well until injury and I think Nyatanga has been much better this season. Dudgeon was doing ok apart from one bad patch until his injury too and I know people have a vendetta against Cranie but he can definitely do a job at this level.

The defence isn't the problem. We Get caught when we lose possession in the midfield and then it's a free for all. Defensively as a side we are poor it's not just the back 4.

When we had the opportunity to bring bodies in, the defence wasn't the problem. The defensive display against United was exceptional. We struggled through the Colchester game where we picked up a few injuries and it's no coincidence that our form has plummeted from there. We're a steely midfielder short too, not just a centre half. Difficult to bring bodies in when the window is closed especially when the defence we do have was performing before the window closed.

The midfield that wing tackle and invites pressure on the defence us the issue rather than the defence.

I agree that a bit better protection from midfield would assist, but when they're cut through, you expect the defence to offer a bit more resistance than a WI gathering.

Chances are, he will address the issue in January but it is a little hard to sign permanent players (which I think we all agree is the way forward) outside the transfer window...

I don't think the defence are that bad when all fit. Brown is awful, but I'm ok with a back four of Cranie, Ramage, Nyatanga and Dudgeon with Turnbull behind them.

It's the midfield where the problem is. No bite. No tacklers and no leaders. Teams are just walking all over us in the middle of the park which invariably leaves the back four facing 5/6 attacking players, running at them.

I firmly believe that if we had a Gwyn Thomas/Darren Sheridan type player in the middle with a Neil Redfearn leader mentality we would see a massive improvement.

Failing that a Alan Little (or dare I even say it, a Michael Brown) type clogger it would help and stop the opposition's play maker's running the games.

I do wonder why Danny or someone else on the coaching staff can't see this, I have to say, because week in and week out it's our downfall

Aye, we lack a defensive side to our midfield and therein lies the problem IMO.
