I'm not going to sit behind a keyboard and claim the man who has put the thick end of £10million into the club is responsible for the current situation. Do I agree with Cryne's decisions? Not all of them. But it's his money and if he wants to continually invest into the club then that's his choice. Him and his family clearly love BFC. That can only be a good thing. My fear is what will happen when he stops investing? The club is too reliant on his money at present. He seems to continually help BFC out when they need a new signing or the budget increasing. I applaud him for this but can it continue forever? I'll admit I was unsure of Mansford early doors but he's slowly won me over. There's been steady improvements off the field and our communication is much better than in the Rowing days. Not all sure what Taylor and Watkins bring to the party, but I doubt they're just sat around doing nothing all week. Or maybe they are? Who knows? You Reds.
Oh dear. You ought to be careful making comments like that mate. You could find yourself among those sued for slander via social media.
He said Patrick isn't making any profit out of Barnsley football club. This is correct. He's put upwards of £10m quid INTO the club without taking any out. The financial accounts which are public record will clarify that. Please explain "cooking the books" as I don't get your point. The club making a small profit in a financial year does not equate to Patrick somehow making money out of the club.
Its clearly nightmare, not sure why they haven't banned him yet for ban evasion, they did once to him iirc
And yet we were told that we didnt need to sell anyone and could still improve the squad. Then suddenly nobody came in until the fire sale.
It's his company I would have thought he'd be getting a wage same as his chairman and it's ceo, but his company made a profit didn't it so he's made money last year surely, anyway you've dragged him into this not me I've nowt bad to say about the bloke apart from the fact he's poor at appointing staff
The reality of the rules hit home I never recall us saying we could retain all our existing staff and recruit. It was always one or the other under SCMP rules. No club our size could sustain the wage we were paying COG and comply. With the rules.
As I recall, Mansford was asked if we could keep all the contracted players and he replied in the affirmative, as we were contractually obliged to do so.
There's a big difference between the company you own turning over a very small operating profit and you as an individual benefitting. MR Cryne's involvement has cost him a fortune (and not even a small fortune a chuffing massive one).
It doesn't work like that, profit in a limited company can be retained. That profit will have been spent this year (and then some I understand). Why would he take a wage from a company he's putting money into? It doesn't make any sense! Again, you clearly can't see the wood for the trees.
Of course we could keep the contracted players if we had to as we were obliged to we just couldn't sign anyone and would have had a transfer embargo. It resulted in late unfinished recruitment which is a shame.
Not quite true - the selling of O'Grady & Steele did clear some funds but the flurry of activity came because Mr Cryne then agreed to inject additional cash in late July. Hence Winnall/Lita/Treacy/Turnbull/Bailey all in that period.
I've always felt Mr Cryne has put way too much money in to the club. It's his money, he can do what he likes, but I would prefer us to operate within our means. Maybe I'm being naive. Never for a second thought Mr Cryne was taking money out of Oakwell. Can't believe anyone does. Menkle.
He's let his heart rule his head but if any of us had the wherewithal we would probably be the same. I know some folks logic is very strange. Our club makes a small operating profit and they seem to think this is the motivation for being involved. I suspect last years books will put the kibosh on that.
Selection of a succesful Manager is not easy.....it's Black Magic. You can look at statistics, budgets, man management capability, etc......but you've also got to look at whether he is a good fit for the Club, supporters, community and the plan going forward. You've also got to accept that we have another 22 teams in the league, all trying to out-perform you on a weekly basis. To me, when I look back and try and define who was succesful, it suggests that we have a cycle where we get a succesful Manager every 1 in 3 or 4 appointments. My summary being we have had 7 "successful" managers since Jim Iley, the list being:- Clarke (first time) Hunter Wilson Bassett Ritchie Davey Robins If my theory is correct, we are due some kind of success.......
