I wouldn't have banned him. But ryhill tyke took exception to it, as his prerogative I suppose. I saw someone refer to smelly pakis in another thread the other day. He wasn't banned. Strange place this at times.
Its pathetic really. Like I said if we're going to start banning people for a bit of name calling then this board will be a very quiet place.
That's entirely your prerogative but I just feel that banning people for name calling is a bit much. If this standard was applied consistently then there will be a lot more people banned.
I'd guess most folk wouldn't say stuff to people's faces that they do on here. Maybe more more folk is the way forward.
Is this a younger generation thing because I personally, and people I know of my age, would never say anything on the internet that they wouldn't say to the person if they were in the pub.
I'm 55 and I wouldn't say anything on the internet I wouldn't say to their face, yer lovely person ! only kidding. I have met conan a few times he can be a little intense but he's very articulate and a decent chap. He's a miserable moaning fercker on here but as his mate is Redstar that may explain a lot !
You know what you're getting with Conan but I always find his posts interesting even if I don't always agree with him.
It's not so much the name calling, as the word he used. The word refers to people with a disability/illness and can be deemed highly offensive.
Its not a nice word but wouldn't a warning have been more appropriate? Anyway its not my board, I don't make the decisions and I respect those that do, I just wish there was consistency. Like a referee I suppose.
