I would take that result now

Any win on Saturday could well kick start our season again

I believe, when we played them that year after just getting promoted, they'd spent more consecutive years in the 2nd division than anyone else. Not ever, just over that period. They were relegated that season and must have passed the mantle over to us as we then spent 16 years in the division, easily racking up the most consecutive years.

    Dull, but true. I think.

When Man utd dropped darn to Division 2 am sure their first game of season was away at Orient.

Big Trevor scored and again when we beat them 3-1 in January.

    Another dull fact.
If we don't clinch promotion before 2020, this will be the first decade since the 1940's where we haven't had a successful promotion winning season.

The away game was changed at very short notice,to a blank FA Cup Saturday in January, and there were only about 100 Reds there that day which was very unusual as we used to take large away following about that time.

As I remember it was a very good performance as well!

Now that IS an interesting fact sir and a quick head calculation confirms you are correct! I've never thought about that before.

I think we can safely say that we will keep that run going though. We're not going to hang around at this level for six more years.......are we?:nails:

I was one of that 100, great day out. Had loads of bother with Leeds fans in London that day, as they were at Spurs in the FA Cup 4th round and intent on causing havoc everywhere. Even 30+ years ago they were to$$ers.

I was there. If I remember correctly it was the weekend after we had lost the league cup replay at home to Liverpool. Don't recall there being many Reds there but a lot more than 100 I'd say. Went with the old Coach & Horses branch on Sheff Road. It was a great performance by the great team that we had back then. Happy days :)

I would have been on the same bus. Went everywhere with Coach & Horses between 80-83.

So did I mate. That period was without doubt my happiest watching the Reds. Mind you I was in my late teens without a care in the world :)
