Talk of this kid from chelsea signing tomorrow, I thought I'd read that window doesn't open until 3rd. Anyone know for sure?
Nope, as soon as Jan 1st hits you can sign a player, anyway, expect the announcement of Yaya Toure signing tomorrow morning.
According to the mail, it opens on Saturday the 3rd to conform with FIFA's wishes of it only lasting 31 days.
As Tyke_80 says though it could be today for loans to FL sides. I noticed on the SSN strap this morning that some loans have happened from Liverpool to Accrington (I think it was those 2 clubs).
Read on the daily mail website, that it's to do with FIFA's ruling of it only being open 31 days. I'm assuming that had it opened today, it would have closed on a weekend (not checked just assuming) so it's being moved back to the 3rd (also a weekend strangely) so that it can close on a weekday, which I'd imagine is the 2nd of February.
Perhaps because the 31st January falls on a Saturday and usually the deadline day is on a normal midweek working day. For example, last Summer's deadline day was Monday September 1st, not Sunday August 31st. As the January window is usually only open for 31 days, the deadline will be Monday 2nd February, so the opening day is delayed by a couple of days. Pure conjecture on my part, though.
