    It's been on the news this morning that they are thinking of pulling out of the deal.

    I was reading their forum yesterday, they approached him back at the end of November and because of the overwhelming negative reaction of the fans they pulled out. Apparently they'd done a u-turn and decided to approach him again, and what i made out from their fans yesterday on their forum is that they felt the club had took their opinion on board, and disregarded it. It was a resounding majority who were against it, with the odd person under the age of 21 who looked at the number of goals Ched had scored.

    The online petition had received more than 5,000 signatures before a link to it had even been posted on Oldham's main forum. That is a number higher than their average attendance.

    Surely their board can see he's more hassle than he's worth.

    I agree. How on earth can their board not consider fans, sponsors and the clubs reputation TWiCE, and get so far down the line. I would love to know what went through the boards minds

    Because some clubs still treat fans like cattle, who are only there to turn up without opinion and can only get involved when the club needs bailing out coz management messed up in the first place.

    Look where do people draw the line?? Would there be a petition if he went fir a job in a night club serving alcohol?? We may not agree with what he has or supposed to have done but all this petition needs to stop!

    There are players what have done things i think are on par with what evans did, the plymouth goalkeeper killed 2 lads i think,yet he is now playing again.. I cant recall anything like this going on for this long!

    What oldham athletic do is nothing to do with anyone else. Sponsors wont pull out at all!

    He has served his time let him rebuild his life/career.

    If you dont agree with what i say thats fine but its my opinion on the ched evans saga!

    You are more than entitled to an opinion as we all are.
    My opinion is all these "types" rape murder, etc should be delt with properly by a moral code that distinguishes what is acceptable as a footballer, you mention a night club server but what if were in the armed forces, a doctor etc etc.
    For once draw up a charter and list what is isn't acceptable for these privileged people

    No he hasn't, he is half way through his sentence and only out on license.

    You might have an opinion that he has served his time but thats not really correct - he has served around half his time and is out on parole - also as he is a sex offender this has stringent conditions attached - these dont prevent him from signing for a UK club but would restrict his activities.

    How can you say sponsors wont pull out - I have no real knowledge whether they will or not and I doubt you have either, but there is a good chance some would not want to associate with a rapist. Sponsors threatening to pull out was definitely a factor in the Blunts getting cold feet.

    As for the Plymouth keeper- firstly I wasnt comfortable with him coming back either but there are two important differences
    He didnt set out to kill the kids - It was an accident though caused by him driving at twice the legal limit - a bit different to setting out with the intention of having sex with a girl whether she wanted it or not
    Second he did at least admit it was his fault and pleaded guilty and expressed remorse and I am sure he really meant it.
    I had actually a bit more of a problem with Lee Hughes coming back to be honest
    Evans still maintains there is nothing wrong with what he did.

    Let's see what happens with his appeal.

    Two sides to every story and a lot of facts we are not privy to.

    The British Judicial system has got things wrong before.

    In the meantime clubs are well off steering clear.

    If his conviction is overturned that would be a different story

    I honestly think there would be. If management at my local boozer were stupid enough to employ any convicted rapist, I'm sure the regulars and people of that area would be firmly against the idea. Working in a bar you come in contact with females of all age groups, he isn't safe to be around these women. On top of that who on earth would want there pint served by a convicted rapist?

    I'd be more than keen to sign a petition.

    And what Oldham do is something to do with us. Twice a year he will be playing in a football match which we have paid to watch. Coming in close proximity to females of all ages, again who he's deemed not to be safe around.

    On top of that can you imagine the hostility it will cause at matches. We all know theres a lot of idiots at football games, thats something that will never go away. Imagine a scenario - a local derby in a heated game where Ched Evans scores a last minute winner. I can guarantee all hell would break loose. Thats something young fans should never be exposed to.

    There is no appeal. It's at the investigation stage to see if it is possible to appeal. People keep saying appeal , no ones granted him the right to appeal yet

    He already had an appeal and his conviction was upheld
    he is trying to get another appeal - that is under review - if and its a big if he is successful in being allowed a second appeal and also if that does overturn the original verdict then yes it does change things.

    But even his defence is that he is a complete **** who thinks nothing of walking in on a couple and joining in - I still wouldnt want him near Barnsley FC but I accept it would be hard to argue he shouldn't sign for anyone. That said we are a long way from any overturning of the original verdict.

    Everyone has a right to appeal dependant on wether new information casts doubt on the original conviction

    Ask the Birmingham six, a miscarriage of justice of epic proportions
