If Evans had been done for GBH, burglary or any other non-sex related crime, he'd be back in football "no questions asked". It's the nature of the offence that's finished him, guilty or otherwise. Simple as that.

Found something out today that I hadn't previously realised. A convicted sex offender can't fulfill the Football League's requirements as being fit and proper to own a football club. it seems to me to be an anomaly that a similar ruling doesn't exist to prevent a convicted sex offender playing for a Football League club.

I personally don't think he should be allowed to work in the public eye, however you can't make an example of one, when there's thousands of other celebrities in the public eye, who have committed similar sort of crimes. Take Mike Tyson for example.

Ask his victim if they think they have had justice.may be a tad difficult as they have had to go into witness protection with no condemnation of the perpetrators from Evans .god help us if we let the criminals take over.

I know you didnt ask me but I think if I had done it I would have released a statement saying that whilst I admit I did what is being claimed it was not rape because the girl consented to it (just as he had done). However id carry on the statement by saying that I do believe that the girl in question has since forgotten that she consented due to the alcohol she had consumed which while not impairing her ability to consent at the time had impaired her memory after she had woken up the next day. A situation which many people will be familiar with (doing things while drunk which you feel you are in control of but do not really remember the next day). With that in mind I call on all my supporters to leave the girl alone and to stop harrassing her. I feel that it is possible to clear my name without further ruining the life of anyone else.

In closing I would like to reitterate that the sex in that room was consenual and so I do not believe I am guilty of rape however I would like to offer my heartfelt apologise to my girlfriend who I hurt so badly by cheating on and also would like to say I am truly sorry for my part in what happened that night as it has ruined a lot of lives, not least the young girl. While I believe the young lady consented at the time the fact remains that if I had not done what I did then I, and indeed the girl in question, would not be in this situation now.

I will continue to try to clear my name, not be accusing anybody of lying but by offering evidence to show that the girl was aware enough to consent that night and by giving evidence that shows that the effect of alcohol can develop during sleep to cause you not to remember what happened the night before. This is what I believe happened in this case and is the reason that I will not admit to commiting rape but will still apologise for our actions whilst drunk causing so much pain and heart ache for so many people.

There. Apologising for being a ****, not admitting rape and also asking people to leave her alone.

What it has shown to me is just how stupid the law is in allowing people out of prison early. If he had done his time (he hasnt) and then come out trying to get a job it would be different but he hasnt, hes come out halfway through his sentence. Not his fault of course butva big flaw in the system

Unless I'm mistaken I didn't think he met her until he sneaked into her room after his mate alerted him to the fact that "he had got a bird". So I think the consent argument fails but ST's post sound like His mates version of events which he got off for. I think the best thing he could have done was lay low for his licence and look to get back in the game after time served and emotions have settled. There isn't an alternative version of events here, his guilt all hung on the girls ability to consent. She said she didn't, and he knew she was vulnerable, so rape was always going to be his risk

Incredibly I find myself agreeing with you Judith..My experience of young men and women in these free and easy days is that this sort of thing happens on a daily basis... just check out the programs showing young men and women on holiday in spain..Had this been Bill from Barnsley with a young lady from Darfield.. it wouldnt even have gone to court...
