Wasn't he the one who ran the show in the friendly pre season?

If he's the number six from the friendly in summer he's our best player by far when he signs

Just speaking to a Man Utd fan now.

Quality, holding midfielder, but quite lightweight size/physicality wise. Goes unnoticed but was a big reason their U21's got to the Cup Final last season. Reckons his ability on the ball is up there with Scholes' when he was at the age/level

I don't think Digby is the ball winning box to box midfielder we thought it was. Not just talent wise but as an actual position.

I still think he has the ability to make it, just not protecting the back four in that kind of system.

Digby should be trialled at centre half imho

Not sure about that, his tackling and positioning has seemed poor to me.

Dunno, he seems okay when the game's in front of him, and his passing is decent.

Digby at centre half is not a bad shout.

Has all the attributes, although I would be worried about the ball over the top.

Maybe a bit late for Digby in any position with us IMO.

Passing is great, reactions and awareness not so good. But they're the kind of things required in the battle in midfield. In central defence you have time and watch the game in front of you. I'm with you, I'd give him a go at centre half. He's got summat, otherwise the England set-up would have never taken notice, but he looks a long way short of being able to compete in a fast moving game in a central midfield position.

Six starts in his whole Barnsley career? That counts a not having had a chance in my book.

He'll definitely be appreciated at Oakwell then. Definitely.

A switch to a different position could be the making of the lad, similar to Steve Agnew from striker to midfield in 1986. Mark Robinson & Owen Archdeacon were signed as wingers, but excelled as wing backs. John Beresford was signed as a midfielder, but blossomed and had a very successful career when moved to left back.

Don't matter where Paul Digby plays he'll always look like he's got Toby Tykes boots on

I'm not claiming he WOULD be a success, I said he COULD be a success. Just expressing an opinion.
