Signing two strikers when we need a left back, DM, and winger is a bit of a surprise. I hope DW has the other positions lined up too. I suppose this means that he's lost patience with Lita and feels Hemmings/Oates aren't the answer in Winnall's absence. I have no problem with the 2 strikers coming in so long as the other positions are addressed too (which I'm sure they will be by Super Danny). UTR.
Reading up on Lalkovich it looks like he's more of a winger than a striker. But I agree wholeheartedly about defensive midfield and left back. They are an absolute must for me.
My thoughts too. Lita, although he's worked hard the last few games, just doesn't suit our system at all. He's made a career as a poacher and just isn't getting anywhere near the goal with his role holding the ball up. Hemmings is still young with room for improvement, but hopefully the new signings plus Phenix (if he ever makes his debut) will give him a kick up the arse. But priority has to be a defensive mid now.
Lalkovich is a winger. Based on what Radio Sheffield tweeted this morning I am expecting the 3rd signing today to be the DM from Manchester United. Agree we need a left back, but again confident that will happen soon too.
Thanks. To be fair I know nothing about the two players whatsoever. If Lalkovich is the winger then fair dos and I stand corrected and happier with the logic behind the signings than I was moments earlier.
Are we THAT desperate for a left back though? We've got young Smith and Nyatanga can play there. Admittedly that's not great but I'd like to see defensive midfielders take priority.
We've go the DM now, but I still feel there's room for a LB, as Nyatanga is not a specialist LB and has been doing well at CB, whilst Smith will no doubt blow hot and cold in his first season so would be good to have an option to change it up without disrupting the middle of the defence.
